Currently, Hung Yen province has 64 craft villages, with a total of 18,487 production and business establishments, including 18,164 production households, 288 enterprises, 17 cooperatives, and 18 cooperative groups; creating jobs for over 45,000 workers.

Currently, Hung Yen province has 64 craft villages, including 8 traditional craft villages, 47 of which have been recognized by the Provincial People's Committee. The craft villages operate in different occupational groups such as: Processing and preserving agricultural, forestry and aquatic products (18 villages); production of wooden products, rattan and bamboo weaving... (23 villages); handicrafts (5 villages); processing and processing of raw materials (9 villages); production and trading of ornamental plants (8 villages); services serving production and rural residents' lives (1 village). There are a total of 18,487 production and business establishments in the craft villages, including 18,164 production households, 288 enterprises, 17 cooperatives, 18 cooperative groups; creating jobs for over 45,000 workers.

Carrying out the task of developing traditional occupations, craft villages, and recognized traditional craft villages, in 2024, the Provincial People's Committee recognized two more craft villages, including: Dong Kim Dau Nghe Craft Village and Dong Tao Dong Kumquat Craft Village, Dong Tao Commune (Khoai Chau). Along with that, activities to preserve and develop craft villages are implemented synchronously by specialized sectors and localities, raising people's awareness in preserving and promoting the cultural values ​​of craft villages and traditional craft villages.

Policies to encourage the preservation and development of craft villages, provide information on product consumption markets, exchange management and production experiences, improve equipment, guide, foster vocational training and production and business management skills for enterprises, production households, and cooperatives in craft villages have been implemented by specialized sectors and localities with high results. Thereby, creating conditions for workers in craft villages to access and apply science and technology into practice; bringing economic efficiency, creating many suitable job opportunities to increase income, improve life, contributing to the construction of advanced new rural areas and model new rural areas in localities.

On January 7, 2025, the Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 03/KH-UBND on preserving and developing craft villages in Hung Yen province in 2025. The plan aims to: Preserve and develop occupations and craft villages to develop the tourism economy, promote and preserve the values ​​and traditional cultural identities of local craft villages. Develop craft villages in line with the market, in line with the strategy and orientation of sustainable socio-economic development, green growth, develop a circular, closed production model, save raw materials, protect the environment and adapt to climate change; apply digital technology in management, promotion and trade promotion of craft village products. Mobilize all resources of economic sectors to participate in craft village development, contributing to promoting economic restructuring towards industrialization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas associated with building advanced new rural areas, and promoting model new rural areas. Invest in and upgrade infrastructure to serve production and business in craft villages. Encourage and support production entities in craft villages to actively participate in the OCOP Program. Along with that, the province strives to appraise and recognize qualified craft villages, implement 1-2 projects to support craft village development, organize 6-8 training courses, knowledge enhancement; conferences, seminars, and exchange of experiences on craft village development associated with agricultural tourism. Strongly develop craft villages that produce products with high economic value and wide markets such as flowers, ornamental plants, handicrafts; encourage the spread and cultivation of crafts and promote support for the development of new products; support the development of craft villages with conditions associated with agricultural and rural tourism.

Comrade Le Trung Can, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, said: In order to effectively implement the province's plan to preserve and develop craft villages, relevant departments, branches and localities should step up propaganda and training activities on policies for developing rural occupations and craft villages; the Program for preserving and developing Vietnamese craft villages for the period 2021 - 2030; promote support for infrastructure construction and environmental protection of craft villages. Develop concentrated and stable raw material areas for craft villages; promote the application of modern science and technology to increase productivity. Strengthen research, transfer and application of new technologies and materials in production, prioritizing environmentally friendly technologies and using renewable energy sources; combine new technologies with traditional techniques and technologies to improve production efficiency without affecting the artistic, aesthetic and traditional values ​​of products; Apply digital technology and digital transformation to improve production capacity, business, trade promotion and tourism development in craft villages. Train human resources to serve the development of craft villages; infrastructure and environmental pollution treatment in craft villages. Encourage and facilitate businesses and production facilities in craft villages and traditional craft villages to participate in fairs, exhibitions and trade promotion; build and promote product brands and expand markets; support the construction of electronic information pages to introduce and sell products online. Restore and embellish relics related to the cultural values ​​of traditional crafts and craft villages; develop craft village infrastructure associated with tourism; organize festivals and folk cultural activities, preserve and promote the cultural values ​​of traditional crafts and craft villages associated with the unique features and cultural identity of each craft village.
