Detained the subject of abusing his wife's stepchild

Subject Ho Tran Minh Co committed the crime again.

Previously, on the evening of March 29, Ho Tran Minh Co and Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung (born in 1998, residing in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province, living with Co as husband and wife) brought NTHL (born in 2017, Nhung's stepchild) to Chau Doc Regional General Hospital in a comatose state. There, Co and Nhung said that L. fell while playing with friends. After examination, it was determined that L. had a brain injury and many injuries on her body. Noticing unusual signs, the hospital reported it to the police.

Through initial investigation, Vinh Thanh Trung Town Police (Chau Phu District) found signs of crime and reported to the Provincial Police Department. Considering the seriousness of the case, the Provincial Police Department directed the Office of the Investigation Police Agency to go to the scene to coordinate with Working Group No. 2 of the Provincial Police (in charge of Chau Thanh - Chau Phu area) and professional units and Vinh Thanh Trung Town Police to quickly investigate and clarify.

Through professional measures, the police determined that Co was the direct cause of injury to L. and invited him to the headquarters for questioning. Initially, Co refused to admit that he had caused injury to L. However, in the face of sharp arguments from the investigator, Co admitted his crime.

During the investigation, it was determined that around December 2024, Co went to Binh Duong province to work, met and lived with Nhung and L. (Nhung's stepchild) as husband and wife. After the Lunar New Year 2025, Co brought Nhung and her child to Co's house in Vinh Phu hamlet (Vinh Thanh Trung town) to live.

On the evening of March 28, after coming home from drinking, Co saw L. sucking her finger, so Co used a wooden stick to hit L. four times on the buttocks, causing injury, and once on the temple, causing L. to collapse to the ground. Afterwards, Co and Nhung took L. to take a bath and change clothes to go to bed. At around 8:00 p.m. on March 29, Co came home from drinking and saw Nhung and L. sleeping in a mosquito net. Co crawled into the net, used both hands to hold L., then threw her up and let her fall onto a thin mattress on the floor, causing L. to lose consciousness. Afterwards, Co shouted for help and together with everyone took L. to the hospital in Chau Phu district for emergency treatment, then transferred her to Chau Doc Regional General Hospital.

Currently, the case is being further investigated, verified and clarified by the Office of the Provincial Police Investigation Agency, and handled in accordance with the law.

Representatives of the Party Committee, People's Committee, and Vinh Thanh Trung Town Police presented support money to child L.

Due to the difficult circumstances of L.'s family, with no money for surgery, the Party Committee, People's Committee of Vinh Thanh Trung town and Vinh Thanh Trung town police supported 25 million VND.
