Latoa Indochine participates in Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2023 exhibition - An unforgettable mark

Following the success of 8 Hue Traditional Craft Festivals (NTTH) from 2005 to present and implementing the Four Seasons Festival Project, Hue City People's Committee continues to organize the 9th Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2023 - 2023 with the theme "Quintessence of Vietnamese Crafts". This is one of the major events for Hue City and Thua Thien Hue Province to preserve and promote the value of traditional crafts, increase promotion to tourists, stimulate tourism; at the same time, enhance the image and position of Hue... Lasting from April 28 to May 5, Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2023 brings together 21 main programs and activities spanning from the city center to neighboring areas. The main organizing spaces such as Nguyen Dinh Chieu walking street, Craft Village Cultural Center, Fine Arts Museum... or parks: Tu Tuong, Phan Boi Chau, Thuong Bac..., the streets become bustling and crowded. Thousands of visitors came to enjoy the programs, experience the craft with artisans, and shop for products from 69 typical craft villages across the country.

The traditional craft exhibition space attracted over 300,000 visitors; sales revenue of most establishments participating in the Festival achieved high results, in which the total revenue and total orders of craft establishments during the Hue Traditional Craft Festival reached over 15 billion VND (total revenue increased by 35% compared to the Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2019). In addition, at the Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2023, there is also a space to display traditional craft products of cities and international organizations, such as: 37 artisans   from Gongju City, Namyangju City (Korea), Saijo City, Shizuoka City, Takayama City, Sasayama City (Japan), Korean Traditional Culture Research Institute and Korean Cultural Research Institute. This is an opportunity for Hue City and Thua Thien Hue Province to continue to strengthen exchanges, promote friendly relations and cooperation between Hue and cities around the world; at the same time, create conditions for exchanges, solidarity and development of traditional handicraft brands of Vietnam and international partners.

The space is designed with an ancient house system combined with bamboo and thatched roofs that are familiar to the Vietnamese people and imbued with Hue's characteristics. This space is not only a place to display and introduce unique products but also a place to showcase the talents of famous artisans and traditional craft villages across the country through the demonstration of sophisticated techniques and unique production processes to create a quintessential product.

This year’s traditional craft village exhibition space is also connected to the Hue specialty culinary space on Ba Huyen Thanh Quan Street and other nearby display and exhibition spaces. This helps connect areas of traditional local handicraft products to create a colorful space.

Visitors to this space, in addition to enjoying Hue specialties, learning and shopping, can also experience and create products with artisans. In addition, visitors can also enjoy meaningful and rich community art and cultural programs held continuously during the Festival days. One of the special booths that attracted a lot of attention from visitors was Latoa Indochine. Latoa and the artisans prepared 1 month in advance with many meticulous steps to create delicate and impressive lacquer products to participate in the Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2023.

All of Latoa Indochine's artworks are familiar folk paintings such as Hang Trong - Dong Ho - Kim Hoang paintings but are completely renewed on carved lacquer material (a combination of lacquer and carving). In addition to familiar paintings, Latoa Indochine also introduces to the public hundreds of high-end application products. The special feature of these products is that they are all enhanced with traditional carved lacquer material. Latoa wishes to bring national culture into the most ordinary things in daily life, contributing to the development of ancient culture to new heights, blending the simple folk in the modern, progressive flow.

The Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2023 with the theme "Quintessence of Vietnamese Crafts" closed with a procession and honoring of craft village artisans and left deep impressions on people in the province and the whole country as well as tourists coming to Hue.

After more than a week of taking place, Latoa Indochine Festival has left a deep impression on the public, domestic tourists and international friends.

In particular, the lacquer painting "CLOUDS LOOKING AT THE ANCIENT CAPITAL" created by Latoa Indochine won the FIRST PRIZE in the category of typical products at the Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2023.
