On February 20, at the University of Transport Technology (UTT), a cooperation agreement signing ceremony took place between the school and Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR), aiming to promote the strengths of each side, improve the quality of human resources and promote research and application of science and technology in the railway sector.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Hoang Gia Khanh - General Director of VNR, Mr. Hoang Nang Khang - Deputy General Director; Mr. Truong Trong Vuong - Deputy Principal in charge of the Railway College and representatives of the professional departments of the Corporation. On the side of the School, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Long - School; Vice Principals: Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Dr. Nguyen Van Lam, Dr. Tran Ha Thanh and staff, lecturers... Guests included Mr. Nguyen Cao Minh - Head of Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board; Mr. Mai Minh Viet - Deputy Director of Railway Project Management Board, Ministry of Transport; Mr. Vu Duc Tien - Senior Advisor to the Board of Directors of Railway Construction Corporation Joint Stock Company.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Long - Principal of the University emphasized that this event is an important first step for the two sides to implement cooperation according to a clear roadmap, with specific plans and practical results. At the same time, this is also an opportunity for the University and the Railway Corporation to strengthen coordination in training, human resource development, scientific research and strategic consulting, contributing to enhancing the position of both units.

Over the years, the training program has been constantly improved and updated according to the practical requirements of the industry, ensuring modernity and conformity with the development trend of the railway system. At the same time, the School focuses on expanding and improving the quality of professions, developing the teaching staff, investing in facilities and innovating teaching methods, creating a solid foundation for training high-quality human resources" Assoc. Mr. Hoang Gia Khanh, General Director of VNR, said: "The Party and the Government are paying special attention to railway development with the goal of developing modern and synchronous railway transport to promote rapid and sustainable socio-economic development. We identify promoting the application of science and technology, digital transformation, and human resource development as key factors determining the successful and effective implementation of the above important projects and tasks."
VNR is actively implementing Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation, the Project on applying science and technology in VNR for the period 2019 - 2030 and preparing human resources to meet the forecast demand for the above two projects in the fields of management, consulting, construction of about 21,000 engineers, 700 masters and 50 doctors, in the fields of operation, exploitation and maintenance of about 3,000 engineers, 75 masters and 25 doctors. Therefore, cooperation with universities and specialized research institutions on railways at home and abroad is a top priority.

VNR General Director believes that today's Cooperation Agreement Signing Ceremony will be a good start for a new Spring, a new chapter in the cooperative relationship between VNR Corporation and the University of Transport Technology. With the experience and capacity of the University of Transport Technology and VNR Corporation, they will successfully implement railway development projects, bringing the country into a new era, an era of national development.
Previously, Vietnam Railways Corporation and the University of Transport Technology had a long-term cooperation process, many officers of the Corporation were trained here. Since 2017, the two units have signed and implemented a Cooperation Agreement, regularly exchanging information, sending officers to participate in events and seminars organized by the other side. Since 2023, the University of Transport Technology has signed a Cooperation Agreement, implementing joint training with the Railway College, a member unit of Vietnam Railways Corporation, implementing engineering training programs for 06 classes with a total of 159 students in Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, master's degrees for 02 classes with a total of 48 students in the majors of railway bridge construction and transport management organization.
Representatives of the two units discussed and agreed on the main contents of cooperation including human resource development, research and technology transfer, organization of scientific seminars, training and internship for students, as well as exchange and community support activities. UTT will support the training of VNR staff, while VNR will facilitate UTT students in internships, career guidance and recruitment. The two sides also agreed to cooperate in research on the application of new technologies, improve the efficiency of equipment systems and organize scientific seminars on high-speed railways.
The signing of the cooperation agreement between UTT and VNR marks the beginning of many practical cooperation programs in the future, contributing to improving the quality of training, research and practical application in the railway sector, especially in the context of implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation.
To realize the contents of the cooperation agreement and develop the railway sector, within the framework of the program, the University announced the Decision to establish the High-speed Railway Center, marking an important step forward in the research and application of modern transport technology. The Center will connect theory with practice, promote the implementation of high-speed railways in Vietnam, and at the same time enhance the University's position through international cooperation, attract experts and train high-quality human resources.
