“Heritage Circuit” Exhibition Honors Traditional Lacquer Art

VOV.VN - The Management Board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter in collaboration with Latoa Indochine artists is organizing a painting exhibition with the theme "Heritage Circuit" at the Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Center (49 Tran Hung Dao, Hang Bai Ward, Hoan Kiem District), from now until September 3, 2024.
The exhibition “Heritage Circuit” displays over 60 paintings with familiar Hang Trong - Dong Ho - Kim Hoang folk painting themes such as Lon dan, Than ke, Danh jealous, Ngu ho, Dam cuoi chuot, ... but has been "recreated" on the basis of combining lacquer painting techniques with engraved paintings, giving art lovers an interesting and creative perspective on the traditional paintings of the nation.
The painting exhibition "Heritage Circuit" is located in the space of a French architectural villa (No. 49 Tran Hung Dao Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi) At the exhibition, Latoa Indochine and his collaborators such as painter Luong Minh Hoa, painter Tran Thieu Nam, painter Nguyen Van Phuc, painter Nguyen Thai Hoc... will also introduce to the public works about lotus, lantern dance, landscape, characters... The works are also expressed through lacquer material created from all the efforts, perseverance and love, passion for art of the painter.
Mr. Pham Ngoc Long - Chairman of Latoa Indochine said that the exhibition "Heritage Circuit" demonstrates the efforts of artists to bring Vietnamese folk paintings to a new level, more valuable and more conservation, while helping to store and preserve paintings in line with current trends. The intention of the Organizing Committee when placing the exhibition "Heritage Circuit" in the space of villa No. 49 Tran Hung Dao is to bring a combination of architecture and art, in which the cultural exchange element takes visitors on a journey of perception, from the past to the present and the future.

Regarding "Heritage Circuit", Mr. Pham Tuan Long - Chairman of Hoan Kiem District People's Committee highly appreciated the goal and quality of this exhibition: "More and more people, especially young people, are interested in heritage, this is a good thing for Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general. This time, the group of artists and Latoa Indochine have introduced many creative works of high artistic value on the basis of exploiting traditional materials, with skillful and creative expressions, surprising viewers". During the exhibition, the group of artists will organize activities to experience lacquer carving, to introduce to the public a deeper understanding of traditional Vietnamese lacquer art and guide the experience of the stages to create a lacquer carving painting.
The painting exhibition "Heritage Circuit" is open to the public until September 3, 2024. Folk paintings have been associated with the Vietnamese people for centuries, but for many reasons, this genre of painting is now facing the risk of being lost. To preserve and promote these precious traditional values, Latoa Indochine and its associates have restored, promoted, and preserved folk paintings and the Indochinese architectural art space, bringing "new life" to ancient painting art, so that traditional arts have a place in modern life. From today (August 9) to September 3, 2024, the "Heritage Circuit" painting exhibition is open for free visits from 9am to 5pm every Tuesday to Sunday, on the 1st and 2nd floors of the Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Center (49 Tran Hung Dao, Hang Bai Ward, Hoan Kiem District).
