Both characters have not known their father since childhood, Nguyen Hai Duyen lost her support after her mother suddenly passed away, and Nguyen Thi Nhi rarely received attention from her family because her mother suffered from mental illness. The special circumstances of the two girls in the program Vietnamese Family Shelter made many people feel sorry.
Episode 122 of Vietnamese Family Home aired with the guidance of MC Dai Nghia, accompanied by MC Anh Quan, actor Bang Di and actor Samuel An. The guests joined forces to overcome challenges to bring home the prize money to help 3 orphans including Phan Le Tan Loc, Nguyen Hai Duyen and Nguyen Thi Nhi.
Since childhood, Nguyen Hai Duyen has not known who her father is. Hai Duyen, born in 2013, is a student at Cam Thuy Primary and Secondary School, Cam Lo District, Quang Tri Province. Her mother was infected with Agent Orange and was always sick. When her mother was pregnant with Duyen, her father also left and disappeared. She grew up in her mother's love. Ironically, in early 2024, her mother passed away due to the after-effects of Covid-19 and her pre-existing illness.
After the sudden passing of her mother, Hai Duyen lived alone in a local charity house built for her family 10 years ago. Her grandparents often came to look after her. At night, her grandmother came to her house with her. Both grandparents were over 70 years old, they only stayed home to farm to earn rice to eat, and on the other hand, they had to take care of two daughters who were also affected by Agent Orange, which was extremely difficult.
Without parents, Duyen lives mainly on the orphan allowance of 750,000 VND/month. She uses this money for school, daily activities, and sometimes for food, she relies on her grandparents. Since losing her mother, Duyen has become more quiet and less talkative. Her eyes are always sad when someone mentions her mother.
Actress Bang Di cried when watching the clip of Duyen's situation. She said: "I saw Duyen go through things that I have never experienced. Duyen is so young but has experienced such a great shock of losing her mother, it can make her always remember her mother" . Besides, the actress is also worried about Duyen's future when her grandparents are old and cannot be with her forever.
MC Dai Nghia was deeply saddened when listening to Hai Duyen's story, knowing that the little girl always wanted to cook her mother's favorite dishes, but that wish could never be fulfilled because her mother was no longer there. Knowing Duyen's wish was to have money to build a grave for her mother because her family was so poor, her mother's grave was now only made of soil, so the male MC decided to support the entire cost of building a grave for Duyen's mother. He also hoped that the girl's grandparents would have good health to continue to be the support for their orphaned grandchild.
Nguyen Thi Nhi 's situation is equally pitiful. Nhi was born in 2014 and is a student at Duc Ninh Dong Primary School, Dong Hoi City, Quang Binh Province. Nhi's mother suffers from mental illness, so since she was little, Nhi did not know who her father was. She grew up in the love and care of her grandmother. Because she was not sober, her mother often had fits of screaming, sometimes beating both her and her grandmother.
Nhi has an older sister, Nguyen Thi Dau, born in 2005, who also does not know her father. Dau is working in Quang Tri, but because of the hardships, she cannot help the family. Her maternal grandmother, Hoang Thi Huong, born in 1958, used to work as a construction worker, but because of her old age and poor health, she no longer works. Now, Mrs. Huong only grows vegetables around the house and sells them at the market to earn a little money to buy rice to eat. Every month, Nhi's mother receives a subsidy of 760,000 VND, which her maternal grandmother uses to cover the daily expenses of the whole family.
Since she was young, Nhi did not have a father and rarely received love from her mother, so she felt very sad. When she was sad, she could only confide in her old, worn-out teddy bear. The children's lack of both material things and family affection made many viewers silently wipe away their tears.
Dai Nghia worries about Nhi when her mother often has seizures. To him, Nhi's innocent face deserves to be loved, not to face loss and pain like what she has been going through.
Actor Samuel An was also moved by the difficult circumstances in the program. The image of Nhi often having to confide in a worn-out teddy bear made the actor extremely sad. As for MC Anh Quan, he gave many words of encouragement and motivation to the children to study hard to fulfill their dreams and become a support for their grandparents in the future.
Entering the competition of the program, MC Anh Quan, actor Bang Di and actor Samuel An took turns coordinating with the children to overcome the challenge of throwing the ball. Accordingly, the players took the ball at the starting line, continuously moved through obstacles and then threw the ball to the finish line. To complete the challenge, the artists had to move very quickly, expending a lot of energy. In addition, the heavy rain in Quang Binh poured down continuously, making the challenge even more difficult.
However, to get the bonus to help the orphans, the guest artists braved the rain to complete the task. After the rounds, Nguyen Thi Nhi's family received a prize of 15 million VND. Nguyen Hai Duyen's family came in second, receiving 20 million VND. Phan Le Tan Loc's family continued to enter the special round, winning 3 logo boards with a prize of 70 million VND.
Faced with difficult lives, MC Dai Nghia decided to give each of the 3 families 5 million VND. The families of Hai Duyen and Nhi also received an additional 15 million VND each from 3 guests. Despite the rain in the Central region, the audience still braved the rain to come and watch the show and join hands to donate meaningful gifts to the families. Thus, after the challenges, all 3 families brought home a total prize of 105 million VND from Hoa Sen Group.
The program Vietnamese Family Warmth airs at 8:20 p.m. every Friday on HTV7. The program is produced by Bee Media Company in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City Television, with the support of Hoa Sen Home Construction Materials & Interior Supermarket System (Hoa Sen Group) and Hoa Sen Plastic Pipe - Source of Happiness.
