Consul General of Vietnam in Preah Sihanouk province Lai Xuan Chien received the delegation and shared some information about the current situation of the Vietnamese community living and working in Cambodia, as well as the cooperative relationship between Cambodian localities and Vietnamese provinces, including Kien Giang.
Vice Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Trung Ho sincerely thanked the information that the Consul General provided to the working delegation, from which the province could better understand the foreign affairs and situation of the neighboring province to have consistent plans and strategies for cooperation according to the diplomatic viewpoint of the Party and State, ensuring the maintenance of peace, stability and mutual development.
Vice Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Trung Ho informed about the socio-economic situation of the province in the past year. In 2024, despite many difficulties, under the leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, the drastic direction and management of the Provincial People's Committee, the efforts of the people and the business community, Kien Giang has achieved many outstanding achievements. The economic growth rate reached 7.5%, the total state budget revenue reached 18,000 billion VND. Tourism in the province has improved a lot, the total number of tourists in 2024 reached over 10 million, tourism revenue over 1 billion USD.
Currently, the province is focusing on implementing a number of key tasks such as rearranging administrative units according to the policies of the Party and the State; investing in infrastructure systems to serve the APEC 2027 summit in Phu Quoc City.
