The Thai Binh Photo Contest was recently held to celebrate the 135th anniversary of the province's founding (March 21, 1890 - March 21, 2025). Hundreds of photos from all over the country were submitted online, showing that the beauty of Thai Binh land and people is spreading day by day. Among the authors, there are many people who are at a rare age, while others are full of youthful enthusiasm. What they have in common is their love and desire to contribute a small part to introducing the rice countryside that is changing every day but still imbued with traditional cultural beauty.
The photo exhibition attracted the attention of art lovers.
Journey of the journeys
As one of the authors honored to have his work selected for exhibition at the Thai Binh beautiful photo contest, Mr. Nguyen Trong Cung (Quynh Phu) said that his photo titled “In the dawn” captured the moment when fishermen in Thai Thuy district started their busy new day amidst the poetic scenery of the land and sky. Not only was the photo selected for exhibition, but Mr. Cung is also a “photographer” who owns a personal page with many special photo collections about destinations in his hometown Thai Binh.
Regarding the origin of his passion, Mr. Cung shared: My friends in other provinces only know Thai Binh as a rice land, so after a process of passion and learning, from 2022, I began to focus and be serious about my trips to villages and communes in the province, capturing beautiful, peaceful, familiar moments in everyday life. The joy is that many photos after being posted were loved and spread, and the locations were also noticed by many young people and photographers. From here, I have more and more desire to spread positive energy and love for my homeland and country from the simplest things to everyone through my photography works.
Sharing the same passion for travel as the “young photographer” Nguyen Trong Cung, for Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son, now 75 years old, those are trips to his hometown Thai Binh. Living and working in the port city of Hai Phong in the tourism sector, Mr. Son is always proud of the land of Thai Binh, rich in cultural traditions, the festival system in all villages and communes is strictly maintained according to traditional rules and especially, the appearance of the countryside is increasingly prosperous.
With the photo "Brightening the Coastal Region" winning first prize in the Thai Binh beautiful photo contest, Mr. Son shared: This is a photo I took with a flycam looking from Tra Ly bridge down to the Thai Binh Thermal Power Plant area. Every time I return to my hometown, I pass by to see this scene and feel moved by the strong transformation of a rice-growing countryside. I believe that in the current 4.0 era, photographic works with the meticulous investment of each photographer will be the most authentic way to promote destinations, thereby attracting tourists from all over to experience and capture impressive moments for themselves.
Promote the beauty of Thai Binh land and people
What is special about the Thai Binh photo contest is that among the authors whose works won prizes, there are many authors from outside the province. Passionate about the land and people here, they have become tourism “ambassadors”, introducing impressive destinations on their journey of experience.
Photographer Vu Van Hiep (Hai Duong) is one of the third prize winners in the contest. He said: I submitted 3 works about very simple beauties, which are the moment of a flock of storks on the beach, fishermen after a successful fishing trip and the image of a woman returning home after a busy day with a full cart of fish. I have had many trips to the beach in Thuy Xuan area (Thai Thuy), but instead of choosing the infinite seascape at dawn like many photographers have chosen, I captured the poetic moment of this place at sunset. The message to viewers is that this land is worth experiencing at any time and everyone can choose their own colors for their compositions.
The work "Fierce".
For artist Trinh Lap (Thai Binh city), folk festivals in all localities in the province are always fertile ground to "cultivate" emotions. Winning third prize at the contest, he hopes that his work "Determined" will contribute to spreading the martial spirit and passion for sports of Thai Binh people, especially women. The winning photo is the moment of the female wrestlers competing for each point at the wrestling ring during the Het temple festival, Thai Thuong commune (Thai Thuy) at the beginning of the new spring.
Artist Trinh Lap shared: Not only the competition in the province but also the works created at the traditional festival were sent by Artist Thai Binh to participate in competitions and exhibitions in many countries and regions around the world and every year there are hundreds of works honored. We believe that our displayed works will reach friends at home and abroad, serving as a bridge to promote tourism, to a peaceful land, sublimating emotions.
In a “flat” world on cyberspace, digital content in general, beautiful and impressive photos in particular are tourism “ambassadors” bringing the image of the homeland and country to friends around the world. Promoting talent, enthusiasm and creativity, photographers are contributing every day to the development of tourism - the smokeless industry of Thai Binh in the new era.
