Ms. Trieu Thi Dung (far right), Party Cell Secretary, Head of Thanh Cong Village, Thanh Son Commune, Ba Che District, mobilized people to donate land and move fences to upgrade the main road of the village.

Quang Ninh currently has 43 ethnic groups living together, including 42 ethnic minorities with over 162,000 people, accounting for 12.31% of the province's population. Under the villages, the houses are bright examples for the people to follow and learn.

Mr. Ly Tai Thong (75 years old, Dao ethnic group), a prestigious person in Bang Anh village, Tan Dan commune (Ha Long city), has been a Party member for 55 years. Having held many positions, in every position, Mr. Thong has been trusted by the people.

Tan Dan commune has been completely renovated today. Bang Anh village has no more poor households, 100% of households in the village have built decent houses, the average income of people in 2023 reached over 60 million VND/person. Not only in the issue of ensuring security, order and social safety, but also in all aspects of economic and social life, ethnic minorities comply very well.

Mr. Ly Tai Thong shared: “When I grasp new information in all fields, or effective economic development knowledge, I disseminate it to people to implement together. A typical example is the model of raising chickens, porcupines, and pheasants that my family has successfully tested. I have also expanded the scale of raising thousands of birds and introduced and helped people in the village to learn and raise them together... When people are united, their lives are prosperous, then there is a basis to ensure security and order, and the locality will develop more and more.”

Ms. Trieu Thi Dung (33 years old), Party Cell Secretary, Head of Thanh Cong Village, Thanh Son Commune (Ba Che District), despite her young age, has always been trusted and credited by the villagers for her enthusiasm and responsibility for her work. Over the years, Ms. Dung has always played a key role in propagating and mobilizing people to actively respond to and participate in the new rural construction program, especially mobilizing people to donate land and build roads to serve socio-economic development.

In early 2024, the main road of the village passing through Loong Toong hamlet and Thac Lao hamlet, nearly 1km long, will be invested in by Ba Che district to upgrade, renovate and expand. The road directly affects 19 households in the village. In order to speed up the construction of the road, Ms. Dung and her comrades in the Party cell, organizations and unions of the village regularly mobilized, listened to and promptly answered all opinions and problems of the people. From there, everyone understood the policy and practical significance of building the road, agreed to sign a commitment to donate land, move fences, and cut down trees for construction.

Not only the village elders, village chiefs, and prestigious people among ethnic minorities, the 9X and 10X generations of ethnic minority youth also always strive to overcome difficulties, strive in studying, or boldly start a business to escape poverty in their homeland. A typical example is Chieu Cam Tinh (Dao ethnic group, in Binh Lieu district), one of the typical examples of ethnic minority youth who has been commended and rewarded by all levels and sectors. Throughout her high school years, Tinh was an excellent student, winning the third prize in Mathematics in the provincial excellent student selection exam.

Not only achieving excellent academic results, Tinh also has a passion for the traditions and cultural identity of her people. In addition to wearing traditional costumes in class every Monday and Friday, Tinh also actively participates in the school's Then and Tinh lute singing club, performs in extracurricular programs of the school, and participates in cultural events organized by Binh Lieu district such as: So flower festival, Luc Na communal house festival... Those activities help Tinh foster confidence and national pride; spreading to the younger generation of ethnic minorities in particular, and the whole province in general, about preserving and promoting the national cultural identity in the province.

Like Mr. Ly Tai Thong, or Ms. Trieu Thi Dung, Chieu Cam Tinh, prestigious people among ethnic minorities in Quang Ninh province are truly shining examples, active cores, mobilizing, persuading, and inspiring people of all ethnic groups to overcome difficulties, promote internal strength, compete in labor production, develop the economy, and sustainably reduce poverty.
