Tonight (December 28), in Hanoi, 125 individuals with many achievements in studying and achieving high results in various fields were honored at the Ceremony to honor outstanding and exemplary ethnic minority students and youth in 2024.
The Commendation Ceremony was chaired by the Ethnic Committee, in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Training and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

In 2024, 125 students, university students and young people from 33 ethnic groups from 39 provinces and cities across the country will be honored.
Speaking at the Commendation Ceremony, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister, Chairman of the Ethnic Committee Hau A Lenh said that among the 125 students, university students and young people being commended today, there are 33 ethnic groups, including 12 students from 11 ethnic groups with special difficulties from 39 provinces and cities across the country. The academic and work achievements of the students, university students and young people being commended today show the effectiveness of the socio-economic investment policies in ethnic minority areas in general and education in ethnic minority areas nationwide in particular.

"The top priority in the new era is to achieve strategic goals, so that by 2030, Vietnam will become a developing country with modern industry and high average income, and by 2045, it will become a developed industrial country with high income. In response to that historical requirement, the role of the young generation has become more important than ever. Because this is a large force, playing the role of the future masters of the country, playing an important role in developing high-quality human resources. Therefore, the young generation of the whole country in general, the generation of students, students, and ethnic minority youth in particular, need to be clearly aware of their responsibilities and tasks as the leading force in studying and training, constantly striving to master science and technology, building great ambitions, confidently entering the new era, the era of the Vietnamese nation's rise", emphasized Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Minorities Committee Hau A Lenh.

At the Commendation Ceremony, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh praised and congratulated the commended ethnic minority students and youth. "There are thousands of beautiful and touching stories across the country about the efforts of ethnic minority students and youth. For them, the road to school is far, bumpy and difficult; their luggage to school includes not only books but also rice, fish sauce, salt, cotton blankets, and winter clothes; the time to start walking to school is when the rooster crows. In that situation, to go to school regularly and go to class like their friends is an outstanding effort. But to become an excellent student, to win a national prize or to be a university valedictorian requires extraordinary efforts. You are truly a shining example of determination and aspiration to rise up".

To continue to maintain and develop the achievements, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh hopes that outstanding ethnic minority students and youth need to remember and do a number of things such as: Maintain their will and aspirations; Practice self-awareness and discipline; Constantly learn and explore; Maintain gratitude and share; Respect and preserve national cultural identity; Look to the future to build their homeland and develop their nation; Be confident, strong, and grasp advanced knowledge that is shaping the world such as artificial intelligence, digital economy, green economy, and circular economy.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh suggested that in the coming time, all levels and sectors, especially the Ethnic Committee and the Ministry of Education and Training, focus on effectively implementing the task of developing education and training, improving the quality of human resources in ethnic minority areas, investing in developing a system of schools, classes, and educational facilities suitable to the conditions in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. Continue to review, revise, supplement, and promulgate new policies on education development. Train a team of dedicated teachers who are willing to work in the highlands. Maintain and expand ethnic boarding schools; provide funding such as textbooks, uniforms, and school meals. Design teaching programs that integrate ethnic culture, helping children both access modern knowledge and preserve their identity. Strengthen bilingual teaching so that children can preserve their ethnic language. Implement career guidance programs to help students orient their careers to suit themselves and the needs of their homeland. Train high-quality human resources, create jobs and support start-ups for ethnic minority youth...
