"Based on verifying and clarifying the nature of the incident and any violations, if any, in the national youth table tennis team, we will report and take measures in accordance with the law," said Deputy Director of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Nguyen Hong Minh regarding the scandal over the 800,000 VND meal in the national youth table tennis team.
Based on the direction of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the verification and review of all relevant information, the Department of Sports and Physical Training will clarify the responsibility of the My Dinh National Sports Complex in providing accommodation for the youth table tennis team. For the Hanoi National Sports Training Center, this is the responsibility of managing professional training, providing accommodation and implementing the State's regime and policies for athletes.

The Department of Sports and Physical Training and related units within the Department are also responsible for directing and managing the overall training of the national teams. Deputy Director Nguyen Hong Minh emphasized that the leaders of the Department bear the greatest responsibility in deciding where the teams will train.
Explaining the arrangement of living and training locations for the national teams, Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh said that this was done based on the decentralization of the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on professional management. The Department of Sports and Physical Training decided to assign the Hanoi National Sports Training Center to manage the training of more than 40 teams. However, this unit can only meet half of the above number.
"The conditions of facilities, accommodation and professional facilities serving the team are very difficult. With over 40 teams, the Hanoi National Sports Training Center can only ensure accommodation for about half of them, the rest are arranged at other locations in Hanoi and other localities, based on professional facilities," said Deputy Director Nguyen Hong Minh.
Regarding the responsibility for managing and supervising the training teams at the Hanoi National Sports Training Center, Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh added: "The first responsibility is the State management and advisory units, the high-performance sports departments when advising the leaders of the Department of Sports and Physical Training on deciding the training location. The second responsibility is related to the Hanoi National Sports Training Center, the unit directly managing the service and training work. Finally, the biggest responsibility is the Department of Sports and Physical Training when deciding where the training teams will be."
After receiving information reflecting that the meals of the national youth table tennis team were not commensurate with the regime that the athletes were entitled to according to regulations, and at the same time the head coach had collected some money from the athletes, the Department of Sports and Physical Training investigated and proposed handling measures.
The verification conclusion of the Department of Sports and Physical Training has not been announced yet. The Department of Sports and Physical Training replaced the coaching staff of the national youth table tennis team, and decided to stop training for coach Bui Xuan Ha (who was reported for collecting money from athletes).
The athletes were also brought back to the National Sports Training Center in Hanoi to live and train, instead of at the National Sports Complex (My Dinh, Hanoi) as before. The youth table tennis team is also the only national team to train at this facility.
