Yen Thanh district is striving to have about half of the communes in the district achieving advanced new rural and model new rural status by 2025, and to become an advanced new rural district by 2028.
Rise from hardship
After 10 years of implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction from a low starting point, with persistent efforts, in 2019, Yen Thanh District successfully reached the new rural district finish line. This is the second district in Nghe An to reach the new rural district finish line after Nam Dan District.

Yen Thanh has 39 communes and towns, including many mountainous communes with difficult economic development conditions. However, after 14 years of building a new rural area, this rice district has "rose from the mud" by successfully implementing many economic and social development goals, becoming a bright spot of Nghe An and the whole country.
Local specialties are popular with customers, creating jobs for many workers in the region.
After the new rural construction program was implemented, the emulation movement to build new rural areas spread widely, and people actively responded to the implementation.
Mr. Phan Van Tuyen, Chairman of Yen Thanh District People's Committee, shared that from the beginning, the district has identified new rural construction as a central, continuous and long-term task. With the goal of reaching the finish line early, the district has focused on doing a good job of propaganda, helping people to properly perceive the purpose and tasks of new rural construction, and arousing the emulation movement among the entire population.
The district's economic growth rate, people's lives are improved
Up to now, after 4 years of becoming a new rural district, the income and life of Yen Thanh district people have improved, the rural appearance has improved significantly, especially the infrastructure. The economic growth rate of the district in 2022 reached 10.01%, the economic scale is among the top in the province, the average income per capita reached 59 million VND/person/year.
