Level 1 aviation security control during September 2nd holiday

Accordingly, from August 31 to September 3, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam will apply level 1 enhanced aviation security control measures at airports, airfields, and air traffic service facilities.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requests agencies and units to deploy appropriate enhanced aviation security control measures. The Northern, Central and Southern Airports Authorities shall notify the content of the decision to aviation service providers and foreign airlines operating at airports.

Airports need to report on aviation security work during the National Day holiday on September 2.

From August 31 to September 3, airport authorities, Vietnam Airports Corporation, Van Don International Airport, Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation and Vietnamese airlines are required to report on aviation security to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.

In case of need to verify and clarify the incident (if any), the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam will directly contact the agencies and units. In case of an unexpected incident, the agencies and units are required to report immediately upon discovering the incident according to the regulations on information work and reporting of violations of aviation security regulations.

According to Decree 92/2015 of the Government on aviation security, level 1 enhanced aviation security control is applied in the following cases: There are important political and social events of the country; there is a complicated political security and social order situation.

According to regulations, airports implementing level 1 aviation security control measures will implement a number of measures such as: Increasing the number of aviation security personnel and guards on duty in restricted areas; checking people with handheld metal detectors and visually checking 7% of people, objects and vehicles entering restricted areas of the airport.

Increase interviews and verification of personal documents when passengers check in for flights and during aviation security checks; randomly visually inspect 15% of passengers who have passed through the security gate without an alarm; visually inspect 15% of carry-on and checked baggage through X-ray machines without any suspicious images; restrict people and vehicles from operating in public areas of the passenger terminal...

Unaccompanied checked baggage will be visually inspected, after being screened before being loaded onto the plane.

Level 2 is applied in cases where there is intelligence information about a plot to illegally interfere with civil aviation activities but the specific location, target, and time have not been determined; there is a serious political insecurity and social disorder situation in the locality.

Level 3 is applied in cases where there is authentic information about a plot to illegally interfere with civil aviation activities with a specific location, target, and time; there is a particularly serious situation of political insecurity and social disorder in the locality.
