The program is currently available to users in the US and Canada. The exact price that iPhone owners will receive depends on the model they trade in. The Verge notes that iPhone 14 Pro Max owners can expect to receive $630, which is more than half the $1,199 price of the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Apple actively entices old iPhone users to upgrade to iPhone 15 series
Whether or not to upgrade will depend on what users need from their iPhone. With the Pro Max line, there are no major differences between the iPhone 15 and 14 in terms of specs and features. Both have a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR display and support for ProMotion. Both models have Dynamic Island, which Apple boasts is a "magical way to interact with iPhone."
Speaking of upgrades, the iPhone 15 Pro Max brings improvements in features like the A17 Pro chip with 6 CPU cores, 6 GPU cores, and 16-core Neural Engine, as opposed to the A16 Bionic with 6-core CPU, 5-core GPU, and 16-core Neural Engine.
The back of the latest model is made of titanium with a textured matte glass back, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max uses a stainless steel back with a textured matte glass back. That's a downgrade because stainless steel is considered harder than titanium.
The camera features are more or less the same, with a 48MP main camera that offers ultra-wide and telephoto shots at high resolution. The only difference is that the iPhone 15 Pro Max has next-generation portrait photography with Focus and Depth Control.
For the charging port, the iPhone 14 Pro Max still uses a Lightning cable but supports USB 2.0, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max uses a new USB-C port that transfers files up to 10 times faster as well as offering USB 3.0 capabilities.
Additionally, there aren’t many upgrades between the two, which means they’re not worth the trade-off. Ultimately, the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be worth the upgrade for users who are using older models like the iPhone 13.
