Encourage farmers to develop collective economic models

Implementing Resolution No. 10-NQ/HNDTW dated July 27, 2020 of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union to encourage farmers to participate in the development of collective economy in the period of 2020-2025, in recent years, farmers' unions at all levels in the district have built effective models.

Linking to develop collective economic model

Lac Son Rambutan and Durian Trade and Service Cooperative (Quang Trung Commune) currently has 46 members, with a cultivation area of ​​nearly 100 hectares. This is one of the typical cooperatives for changing the mindset and producing goods towards export of local farmers. In the 2024 durian crop, each hectare of durian of the cooperative will bring a profit of 1.2-1.5 billion VND. To build a brand for durian, the cooperative has completed the procedure to request the competent authority to issue a code for the durian growing and production area according to VietGAP standards.

Director of Lac Son Rambutan and Durian Trade and Service Cooperative Nguyen Duy Cuong shared that when the growing area code is granted, it will be the basis for durian to be exported to China through official channels, contributing to increasing the value of the product. Exported and domestically consumed products will create resources to help members in economic development, increase income, stabilize life, thereby promoting local socio-economic development, creating jobs for members and farmers.

Similarly, the Bau Ham 2 Avocado Cooperative has an area of ​​16 hectares. Since its establishment, members have exchanged production experiences to improve avocado productivity. In addition, the groups have been able to access loans of VND500 million from the Farmers Support Fund.

According to Mr. Pham Duy Long, Head of the cooperative, with the support of the authorities, people have implemented avocado production according to VietGAP standards, creating a basis for linking production and consumption to develop avocado trees in a sustainable direction.

According to the Farmers’ Association of Thong Nhat District, the collective economic models of farmers have contributed to creating jobs and stable income for members. The exchange of production experiences and transfer of science and technology have helped farmers boldly invest in new technologies, apply technical advances in production, bring into production highly effective crops, and increase income for workers.

Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Thong Nhat District Nguyen The Vinh said that in the past 5 years, the Farmers' Association in the district has participated in mobilizing and establishing 5 agricultural cooperatives, 12 cooperative groups, 14 professional associations and 35 professional associations. Up to now, the district has 10 agricultural cooperatives, 66 cooperative groups; 4 high-productivity clubs; 15 professional associations and 48 production professional associations.

According to Chairman of Thong Nhat District Farmers' Association NGUYEN THE VINH, the association has combined agricultural product consumption through corporations, large enterprises and organizations to bring products to e-commerce platforms, supermarkets, retail stores, and social networks to help products of cooperatives, cooperative groups and farmers spread more widely.

Connect to support farmers

According to the Chairman of the Quang Trung Commune Farmers' Association, Bui Van Thien, 2 cooperatives owned by farmer members in the commune have been operating effectively. In addition to the cooperatives, Quang Trung Commune has established cooperative groups and professional production association groups. Farmer members are trained to bring agricultural products to e-commerce platforms and sell on Zalo, Facebook, and TikTok channels with 2 main products: rambutan and durian. Thereby, helping many customers know about local products. In addition, the products are also exported to China, Taiwan, etc. This is a big step forward in economic development and market expansion for local growers and businesses.

To support the development of the collective economy, the Thong Nhat District Farmers' Association reviews the borrowing needs of households in cooperatives and cooperative groups, thereby providing support for borrowing from the Farmers' Support Fund.

The total capital of the District Farmers Support Fund is over 15.5 billion VND, which has supported 276 households to borrow. In addition, the association has coordinated and signed with banks to disburse over 250 billion VND to households to borrow; organized 74 training courses for over 12,000 officials and members to participate in science and technology, growing area codes, etc. Capital from the Farmers Support Fund and banks helps farmers, members of cooperatives, and cooperative groups develop production, expand acreage, and contribute to improving the operational efficiency of the collective economic model.

The association from district to grassroots level has been proactive in coordinating with units such as Binh Dien Fertilizer, An Dien Company, Nguyen Ngoc Company, Green Agricultural Technology Joint Stock Company, and Que Lam Group to support agricultural materials with deferred payment.
