Officially has a new price frame for solar power, the Southern region has the lowest price

(DN) - The Ministry of Industry and Trade has just issued Decision No. 988/QD-BCT dated April 10, 2025 approving the electricity generation price framework applicable to solar power plants. This price framework is divided into regions, with and without battery storage systems.

For solar power plants without battery storage systems, the maximum electricity price (excluding VAT) for ground-mounted solar power plants is: 1,382.7 VND/kWh in the North, 1,107.1 VND/kWh in the Central region and 1,012 VND/kWh in the South. As for floating solar plants, the maximum electricity price for the three regions is 1,685.8 VND/kWh, 1,336.1 VND/kWh and 1,228.2 VND/kWh, respectively.

For solar power plants with battery storage systems, the maximum price (excluding VAT) for ground-mounted solar power plants is: 1,571.98 VND/kWh in the North, 1,257.05 VND/kWh in the South and 1,149.86 VND/kWh in the Central region. As for floating solar plants, the maximum electricity prices for the three regions are 1,876.57 VND/kWh, 1,487.18 VND/kWh and 1,367.13 VND/kWh, respectively.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade requests that Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) and power generation units sign power purchase contracts based on this power generation price framework according to regulations.

In Dong Nai , up to now, Dong Nai Power Company Limited has managed and signed rooftop solar power purchase contracts with 5,790 customers with a total installed capacity of nearly 675 thousand kWp. The rooftop solar power output in 2024 is more than 746 million kWh. There are many solar power systems that have been installed but have not signed purchase contracts with the electricity industry or are self-used.
