On January 20, the Economic Police Department of Da Nang City Police announced that it had just prosecuted and detained Nguyen Van Nam (40 years old, residing in Thanh Xuan Trung Ward, Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi) to investigate and handle the act of smuggling.

According to initial investigation, the police determined that Nguyen Van Nam borrowed documents from others to register to establish VII Transport Company Limited, located in Nghi Phu commune, Vinh city, Nghe An province.

After establishing the company, Nam did not operate and did not have a headquarters as stated in the registration documents, but only used it as a front for other illegal activities.

On February 24, 2023, Nam declared to customs that he was importing goods to Vietnam through Da Nang Port under the guise of Transport Company VII.

To carry out import procedures, Nam declared the imported goods as powder paint additives.

However, through information, the police discovered that the above shipment was suspected of being falsely declared, so they checked it.

Through inspection, the police discovered that the shipment of paint additives Nam declared included 3,500 boxes of various dairy products, with a total value of nearly 2 billion VND.

The police determined that Nam's behavior was smuggling, so they decided to prosecute and arrest Nguyen Van Nam.

Currently, the Economic Police Department of Da Nang City Police continues to investigate and handle the case according to regulations.
