Opening the program, Australian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Sarah Hooper said that Taste of Australia 2025 will take place in March and April. This is an annual event to honor Australia as a creative and innovative country, while introducing the outstanding quality of Australian culinary products and promoting cooperation between the Vietnamese and Australian food industries.

Special meaning

According to Ms Hooper, this year's Taste of Australia has special significance as it marks one year since Vietnam and Australia signed the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, affirming their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation in trade, investment and culture.

Ms Hooper said that two-way trade between Vietnam and Australia would reach more than AUD 22 billion in 2024. The two countries have seen excellent growth, especially in Australian exports of food, fibre and forestry to Vietnam and trade flows from Vietnam to Australia.

Taste of Australia 2025 embodies this spirit by providing opportunities for Vietnamese consumers and businesses to experience Australia’s leading agricultural and culinary products.

This year, Chef Ngo Thanh Hoa, Champion of MasterChef Vietnam 2013, takes on the role of the program's Representative. In this role, the chef attended the media launch on March 11, and took on the position of head judge of the cooking competition on April 12.

The competition is a playground for culinary students from vocational schools in Ho Chi Minh City, creating opportunities for them to demonstrate their skills and creativity with premium ingredients from Australia. The winner will receive training and internship opportunities from leading experts in the industry.

Consul General Hooper affirmed that training, skills and education are extremely important in the Vietnam-Australia partnership. "More than 100,000 Vietnamese have Australian qualifications and many of the hospitality industry in Vietnam has a solid foundation after being trained in Australia," she said. Therefore, the cooking competition is also an opportunity to show the impact of training in the culinary sector.

For his part, Chef Ngo Thanh Hoa shared that he was honored to be the representative of Taste of Australia 2025. This is a great opportunity to introduce high-quality Australian ingredients to Vietnamese diners and inspire the young generation of chefs.

Exciting and diverse program

This year’s program includes many exciting events, from culinary promotion programs at restaurants, cooking competitions, trade and consumer exhibitions, to the Gala Dinner, all aimed at bringing Australian flavors to Vietnamese diners.

The program lasts from March to April.

In particular, Taste of Australia 2025 collaborates with 29 leading restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City to introduce the quality of Australian agricultural products, fresh fruits and products currently available in the Vietnamese market.

To get tickets, from March 13 to April 6, Vietnamese-Australian food lovers who dine at partner restaurants will have their program cards stamped. Collecting five stamps at different restaurants will give them a chance to receive free tickets to the Taste of Australia Gala Night on April 12.

The Australian Consulate General encourages interested parties to quickly participate for a chance to win a limited number of invitations.

Also on April 12, one of the highlights of the program will be a vibrant and free trade-consumer exhibition at The Reverie Saigon Hotel.

A list of restaurants that can collect stamps is posted on the program's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/tasteofaustralia.vn).

Australian flavors are popular in Vietnam

Taste of Australia continues to be celebrated across Vietnam. According to the Australian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, in recent years, the program has welcomed nearly 10,000 participants at more than 85 official events, in addition to promotions from more than 150 restaurant and retail partners. The program has received strong support from more than 350 partners, suppliers and sponsors in the private sector in both Vietnam and Australia.
