Sweet fruits in building new rural areas

Coming to Yen Son commune these days, it is easy to see that many previously narrow roads have now been solidified and expanded. The phrase "worth living countryside" is no longer strange to the people here.

A typical example is the road through Mai Thuong village (Yen Son commune) which was just completed and put into use in early 2024 with a road surface of 6m wide, twice as wide as before. This result was achieved because the people themselves voluntarily moved back the fence to give land to the locality to build the road without anyone thinking about compensation.

As one of the households who voluntarily broke down 50m of fence and donated more than 100m2 of land to widen the road, Mr. Tran Van Duoc (Mai Thuong village) shared: Previously, this road was narrow and it was difficult for vehicles to pass each other. Therefore, when there was a policy to widen the road, we were very happy. Without anyone telling us, the households whose roads passed through were all willing to donate land, break down their fences and spend money to rebuild, so that we could have a wide road so that people could travel more easily.

For Mr. Duoc, donating land to build roads not only facilitates travel but also opens up economic development opportunities for future generations. "Expanding roads will bring about everything, making travel easier and safer," Mr. Duoc said with a smile.

According to Mr. Tran Van Be, because the road is narrow and only agricultural vehicles can pass, the cost of construction materials was very expensive in the past. But since the road was widened, large cars can also go all the way to the foot of the construction site, so the price is much cheaper. In particular, traders come to trade and buy goods conveniently, and the people's economy is developing day by day.

Understanding the value that the NTM program brings, after a short time of implementation, the people of Yen Son commune donated over 2,000m2 of land to expand and upgrade rural roads. The spacious roads are like a breath of fresh air, contributing to improving the working conditions and living conditions of the people here.

Yen Son Kindergarten was newly invested with 12 classrooms and functional rooms, total cost over 25 billion VND.

Not only donating land to build roads, Yen Son commune people also cooperated with local authorities to do a good job of clearing land to build school infrastructure, contributing to improving the quality of education.

Although there is no compensation fund yet, 24 households in Noi Dinh village are ready to hand over the clean land for the construction unit to build Yen Son kindergarten. Mr. Duong Van Can shared that after being informed by the commune officials and for the future of their children, the people are very excited, enthusiastic and ready to hand over the land, so that the children will soon have a new, modern school to study.

By promoting resources and skillful mass mobilization, up to now 100% of rural roads in Yen Son commune have been paved, and schools in the area have been invested in and built spaciously.

Determined to reach the advanced NTM target

According to the plan to build new rural areas in Bac Giang province, Yen Son commune (Luc Nam) is one of 12 communes to reach the advanced new rural area target in 2024. Accordingly, from the beginning of the year, Yen Son commune People's Committee promptly issued documents, organized conferences and meetings to implement.

Up to now, Yen Son commune has completed 16/19 criteria of advanced NTM commune, reaching 84.21%, the remaining 3 criteria have not met the standard: Education; Production organization and rural economic development; Quality of living environment. At the same time, there are 3 criteria that need to be maintained, strengthened and upgraded: Traffic; Cultural facilities and Environment.

To achieve the goal of meeting advanced NTM standards in 2024, the Party Committee and People's Committee of Yen Son commune are continuing to focus on directing and mobilizing all resources to invest in completing and improving the quality of the criteria.

Mr. Nguyen Van Truyen, Chairman of Yen Son Commune People's Committee said: During the implementation process, cadres, team members, union members and all people have always actively responded, especially the construction of rural infrastructure works such as "electricity, roads, schools, stations"; the movement to liberate traffic corridors, eliminate mixed gardens, develop production, and build model residential areas has been carried out strongly and in depth.

"The secret to success in building the new rural area of ​​Yen Son commune is that we first focus on propagating to families who are cadres and party members to set an example first. Especially, the flexible way of mobilizing has gradually made people open, willing to contribute their efforts and money, determined to work together to build Yen Son countryside more and more prosperous and beautiful," Mr. Truyen added.
