On the morning of March 3, at the Multi-purpose Gymnasium of Tran Hung Dao High School for the Gifted (Phan Thiet City), the Department of Education and Training held the opening ceremony of the 16th Provincial Phu Dong Sports Festival (HKPĐ), school year 2023-2024. Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Minh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of leaders of departments, branches and sectors and participating athletes.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Toan Thang - Director of the Department of Education and Training emphasized: Physical education in general schools is an educational content, a compulsory subject, part of the education program of all levels, aiming to equip children and students with basic knowledge and movement skills, forming the habit of practicing physical exercise and sports to improve health, develop physical strength and stature, contributing to the implementation of comprehensive education goals according to Resolution 29-NQ/TW on Comprehensive and Fundamental Innovation of Education & Training and comprehensive implementation of the National School Health Program for the period 2021 - 2025. Phu Dong Sports Festival is the largest sports festival for school children, contributing to maintaining and promoting the Campaign "All people practice physical exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", an opportunity to evaluate physical education work, the development of the physical education and sports movement in schools in the province, an opportunity to discover, Reward and honor students with high achievements and select and continue to train students to participate in the National HKPĐ in 2024.
This year's Phu Dong Sports Festival will be held from March 3 to March 11, 2024, including 9 competitions: Badminton, table tennis, athletics, swimming, traditional martial arts, Vovinam, chess; Taekwondo and women's football, attracting 2,228 athletes from 28 high schools, 131 middle schools, 236 primary schools belonging to 10 Departments of Education and Training and 2 vocational education and continuing education centers.
In the spirit of fair sportsmanship and solidarity, the Director of the Department of Education and Training requested the Organizing Committee to operate closely and scientifically, implement the correct time, plan and regulations, ensuring all athletes compete safely, promote their talents to achieve the best results.
It is known that this HKPĐ will select excellent athletes to participate in the 2024 National HKPĐ held in Dak Lak province.
