Although built from 1993 to 1997, the Sheraton Hanoi Hotel only officially opened to guests on March 5, 2004 due to delays caused by the impact of the 1997 Asian financial crisis and the 2002 SARS epidemic.
In 2016, the event of Marriott International Group acquiring the Sheraton brand marked a significant transformation of the hotel. Sheraton Hanoi quickly changed its new brand identity and continued to operate according to the previous Sheraton brand positioning, becoming 'Where the World Gathers.'

Over the years, the Sheraton Hanoi Hotel has welcomed many heads of state and hosted many important events, becoming a trusted address for embassies and government agencies of Vietnam. From the US to China, Russia to Japan and more, the hotel has had the honor of serving leaders from many different countries in state banquets and national events.

Sheraton Hanoi Hotel has continuously maintained and renewed its facilities, such as repainting the building in 2012 and 2022, refurbishing the interior in 2018, launching the new Sheraton Club business lounge in 2023 and converting the Deja Vu bar into a new banquet/conference room, meeting the city's growing event organization needs.
In mid-2024, the Song Hong Ballroom, Song Da Complete Meeting Room and Hemispheres Steak & Seafood Grill restaurant will also be renovated, promising to bring customers more friendly spaces and more memorable events, weddings and culinary experiences.
Over the past 20 years, Sheraton Hanoi Hotel has also contributed to the community, organizing hundreds of charity trips such as building libraries for children in mountainous areas, giving gifts to nursing homes, orphanages and Agent Orange victim care centers, or fundraising events for Operation Smile.

To make more positive changes towards the trend of responsible - green - sustainable tourism, Sheraton Hanoi has implemented various measures including using large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel in the bathroom instead of traditional small bottles; serving water in bottles or glass bottles in the guest rooms and meeting rooms.
In addition, the hotel's restaurants have also switched to using free-range eggs and incorporating more plant-based dishes (30%) into the restaurant menu. Towards 2024, with a commitment to sustainable development, Sheraton Hanoi will install electric vehicle charging stations in the parking lot and maximize energy savings in hotel operations.
In 2024, Sheraton Hanoi Hotel will continue to focus on ensuring excellent service quality, creating a friendly space for the community to connect and exchange experiences, committing to sustainable development and socially responsible operations, as well as digital transformation through the application of technology that allows guests to check in and unlock their rooms using the Marriott Bonvoy application on mobile phones.
To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Sheraton Hanoi will host a series of 'Gathering by Sheraton' events to transform the hotel's common spaces into places where the community can come to interact and connect, offering guests many room, party, and especially culinary service promotions throughout the year.
