The Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah received the bodies of three young men and is treating three others who were injured, the Xinhua news agency reported, citing medical sources in Gaza. Meanwhile, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that two people were killed and many others were injured in the Israeli attacks on al-Bureij.
An Israeli drone strike in central Gaza also killed three others while a similar attack in Rafah, south of Gaza, also injured several people.
The Israeli military confirmed it carried out airstrikes on central and southern Gaza.
According to figures released by health authorities in Gaza on March 17, the number of people killed by Israeli attacks since the conflict broke out in October 2023 has reached nearly 48,600 people and more than 112,000 others have been injured.
In recent days, Israel has increased its attacks on Gaza as phase 1 of the ceasefire agreement in this territory expired on March 1 and negotiations on phase 2 of this agreement remain deadlocked.
In a related development, on the same day, the Brazilian government condemned Israel's violations of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, especially the suspension of humanitarian aid and the power cut.
According to a joint statement published by the Brazilian Foreign Ministry, during a meeting between Secretary General of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry Maria Laura da Rocha and Palestinian Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian Shahin in Brasilia, the two countries discussed the situation in Palestine, expressing concern about the fragility of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The two countries agreed that it is urgent to reach a permanent ceasefire agreement, including the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from the territory and the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners held in violation of international law.
Brazil and Palestine also stressed the need to establish a strong mechanism to ensure the reception of humanitarian aid and expressed support for the Gaza recovery, reconstruction and development plan adopted by the Arab League on March 4.
The two sides expressed concern over Israel's continued expansion of illegal settlements, Israeli settler attacks on Palestinian civilians, annexation threats and other intimidation measures that have resulted in the forced displacement of thousands of Palestinians from their land.
The joint statement said the Brazilian government expressed its support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the right to self-determination, based on the two-state solution.
