Speaking during a visit to the Iraqi capital Baghdad, Foreign Minister Araghchi stressed: "We are completely ready for war. We are not afraid of war, but we do not want war, we want peace and will strive for a real peace in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon."
At a joint press conference with Mr. Araghchi, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein made it clear that Baghdad opposes allowing the regional war to spread to Iran.
“Continuing the war and expanding it to the Islamic Republic of Iran as well as (Israel’s) use of Iraqi airspace as a corridor is completely unacceptable and repudiated,” he noted.
The statements come ahead of potential Israeli retaliation for Tehran's recent missile strikes on the Jewish state.
On the same day, Mr. Araghchi also declared that there would be “no red lines” when the Middle Eastern country took measures to protect its people and the country from an upcoming Israeli attack.
Writing on social network X, Iran's foreign minister affirmed: "Although we have made great efforts in recent days to avoid a regional war, I clearly state that we do not set any red lines in our mission to protect our people and the interests of the country."
