Da Bac district exploits advantages for tourism development

Da Bac district has the largest natural area in Hoa Binh province with nearly 78 thousand hectares, located at an altitude of about 560m, many mountains are over 1,000m above sea level. Da Bac is also a locality planned for the Hoa Binh Lake National Tourist Area. With a lake surface of more than 6,000 hectares belonging to the Hoa Binh hydroelectric reservoir, many large and small islands and forests stretching, many rich aquatic species, and a waterway from Hoa Binh city through Da Bac to Son La, the district has great potential for economic development, especially tourism.

Dao village, Sung hamlet, Cao Son commune, Da Bac district develops community tourism, attracting domestic and foreign tourists to visit and experience.

In recent years, the district has focused on promoting its potential, attracting investment, encouraging tourism development, making Da Bac a tourist destination of interest to many domestic and foreign tourists. In addition to exploiting the advantages of natural beauty, the district has directed agencies, departments, branches, Party committees, and local authorities to develop various types of tourism, focusing on improving the quality of typical tourism products, linking spiritual tourism with cultural tourism, resorts, and entertainment activities. Developing tourism associated with preserving and promoting the values ​​of ethnic cultural heritage, natural heritage, landscapes, and ecological environment; developing green, environmentally friendly tourism products. Improving the quality of community tourism products associated with developing production models applying ecological farming processes, focusing on building new tourism products with local characteristics and uniqueness to attract tourists.

Currently, some community tourism spots of the district have been named on the tourist map inside and outside the province such as: Xom Sung (Cao Son commune), Xom Ke (Hien Luong commune), Xom Duc Phong (Tien Phong commune). Ms. Bui Thi Nhem, Duc Phong hamlet, Tien Phong commune said: "The Da Bia community tourism spot, Duc Phong hamlet converges all the natural elements, unique indigenous culture, potential for tourism development, is a destination for tourists who want to relax, explore the life of the Muong Ao Ta people. The Hoa Binh - Moc Chau expressway passing through the district is being deployed, hopefully the investment in traffic infrastructure will make the economic development and tourism of the people more and more prosperous".

Visitors to Hoa Binh Lake cannot miss the spiritual tourist destination, historical and cultural relic of Thac Bo Temple at the provincial level. Every year, on the occasion of Tet, this place attracts thousands of visitors to visit and worship, creating a bustling atmosphere on the wharf and on the boat. In addition, a type of tourism that attracts a large number of visitors to Da Bac is eco-tourism and resort tourism. While large resorts have not been completed and put into operation, small tourist destinations have attracted many interested visitors. Each tourist destination tries to improve its quality, focusing on its own identity to attract visitors, the main destinations focus on resort services such as: Mai Da lodge, Mo village, Xoan retreat, Vay Ang retreat... Some destinations serve larger community activities such as Coconut Island, Hien Luong Eco...

Along with that, Da Bac is endowed by nature with abundant resources, especially land and forest resources. Phu Canh Nature Reserve covers an area of ​​over 5 thousand hectares, of which natural forests account for over 90%, located in 4 communes: Doan Ket, Dong Chum, Dong Ruong, Tan Pheo, creating favorable conditions for the development of eco-tourism. In addition, in order to exploit the advantages of customs and cultural beauty of the Tay ethnic group, the district directed the specialized department to survey and develop a project to preserve the culture of the Tay ethnic group to develop community tourism.

In 2024, the total number of visitors to the district will reach over 266,000, including 257,580 domestic visitors and over 8,430 international visitors. Tourism revenue is estimated at 114,679 million VND.

Comrade Ban Kim Quy, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee, Head of the Tourism Steering Committee of Da Bac District, said: An advantage for the development of Da Bac is that the transport infrastructure continues to be upgraded and completed, especially the Hoa Binh - Moc Chau expressway, the route connecting Da Bac town and Thanh Son district, Phu Tho province. It is expected that when the routes are completed, it will open a new turning point for the economic and social development of the district, especially tourism development. In the coming time, the district will focus on developing eco-tourism, resorts and community tourism. To strongly develop these two tourism products, the district will create the best environment and conditions to attract investors in the tourism sector. At the same time, preserve and promote the cultural values ​​of ethnic groups; restore, embellish and upgrade relics.
