On April 7, the Farmers' Association of Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City held its 12th Congress for the 2023-2028 term, with the theme "Solidarity, Creativity, Innovation, Development". This is the unit that organizes the city-level congress.

Attending the congress were Vietnamese Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Canh and comrades: Nguyen Xuan Dinh, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union; Nguyen Ho Hai, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Nguyen Thanh Xuan, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Farmers' Union; Tran Van Nam, Secretary of the Binh Chanh District Party Committee.

Speaking at the congress, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Farmers' Association Nguyen Thanh Xuan highly appreciated the efforts of the Executive Committee of the Binh Chanh District Farmers' Association in focusing on directing the successful organization of the grassroots Farmers' Association Congress. At the same time, there were many efforts, promoting the spirit of solidarity, innovation and creativity to successfully implement the goals set out in the Congress Resolution.

“From the practical activities of the Association at all levels and the farmers’ movement, many typical and successful farmers have emerged in studying and applying science and technology to improve production and business efficiency, promoting the spirit of solidarity, helping each other to get rich and sustainably reduce poverty, creating a beautiful image of “New Farmers of Ho Chi Minh City: Patriotic - Exemplary, Dynamic - Creative, Solidarity - Affectionate”, contributing to affirming the role of the Association in the political system, further embellishing the revolutionary tradition of the peasant class”, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Farmers’ Association emphasized.

Speaking at the congress, Secretary of Binh Chanh District Party Committee Tran Van Nam shared that in order for the district's agriculture to develop stably and sustainably, and be competitive in the market, the District Farmers' Association needs to focus on guiding farmer members to access science and technology in production, creating conditions for farmers to participate in digital transformation.
Farmers participate in e-commerce platforms, implementing the Project to build smart cities in Binh Chanh district in the period of 2020 - 2025. At the same time, change the form of production from traditional individual and small scale to cooperative and cooperative models and strengthen cooperation from the stage of supplying input materials to production, processing, and consumption of products, build linkage chains, supply chains in agriculture, create favorable conditions for trading, exchanging agricultural products, linking in production and consumption of products to improve income and life of farmers.

During the past term, the Farmers' Association of Binh Chanh District has achieved many targets and tasks. Typically, it has developed 1,753 new members (reaching nearly 229% of the plan), developed 65 new cooperatives, built 15 new cooperatives; and supported loans for 3,275 farming households to do business with an amount of 118 billion VND.
The Farmers' Association of Binh Chanh District also launched many movements to effectively implement the national target program on new rural construction, typically mobilizing 1,198 farming households to donate nearly 34,800m2 of land for rural roads. At the same time, it consulted and supported farmers, organized well-organized study tours of effective economic models and displayed, promoted and introduced products, especially helping farmers participate in digital transformation in production and consumption of products. In the past term, 25 products were honored as "Typical Agricultural Products" at the city level and 6 products achieved OCOP at the city level.

The Congress elected the Executive Committee of the Farmers' Association of Binh Chanh District for the new term, including 29 Executive Committee members and 55 official delegates, 3 alternate delegates to attend the 11th Congress of the Farmers' Association of Ho Chi Minh City, term 2023-2028.

On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union awarded certificates of merit to 1 collective; the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 4 collectives and 9 individuals; the Ho Chi Minh City Farmers' Union awarded certificates of merit to 4 collectives and 2 individuals.
