Thanh Hoa Buddhist Conference

On the occasion of the 40th Anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Thanh Hoa province (November 1, 1984 - November 1, 2024), on the morning of October 30, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Thanh Hoa province organized the Thanh Hoa Buddhism Conference - 40 years of development and growth.

Attending the workshop were representatives of leaders of a number of provincial departments and branches, venerable monks, senior monks, nuns, monks, nuns, scholars, lay people, and Buddhists.

In history as well as in the present and the future, Thanh Hoa Buddhism has always accompanied the nation in the work of building, protecting and developing the homeland and country; at the same time, it has had profound influences on social life, contributing to creating the cultural identity and national ideology.

As a religion of compassion and kindness, with the motto "Buddhism is not separate from worldly enlightenment", Thanh Hoa Buddhism has joined hands with Party committees, authorities, agencies, departments, branches, and organizations at all levels to contribute to building a life of "good life and good religion". Thanh Hoa Buddhism has gradually affirmed its position in the hearts of the people, especially since the establishment of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Buddhist Sangha in 1984 until now.

At the workshop, the presentations focused on studying Thanh Hoa Buddhism in a new mindset and appearance, namely: Studying Thanh Hoa Buddhism in the contemporary and developing context, with 53 presentations by scholars, researchers, monks... from research institutes, universities, and state management agencies on religion with 6 topics, including: History of formation and development of Thanh Hoa Buddhism through the periods; Culture, festivals and architectural art of Thanh Hoa pagodas; Thanh Hoa Buddhism and social security issues; Buddhism in ethnic minority areas of Thanh Hoa province; Southern Buddhism in Thanh Hoa; New sources of Thanh Hoa Buddhism...

The presentations focused on clarifying the formation and development of Thanh Hoa Buddhism through each historical period, especially the positive influences and spreads of Buddhism in the cultural and social life of ethnic communities in Thanh Hoa province.

After the discussion, the delegates continued to analyze and clarify a number of issues: How to promote the effectiveness of Thanh Hoa Buddhism in propagating the Dharma and spreading Buddhist culture in the locality; The work of preserving, restoring and promoting the value of Buddhist cultural heritage in Thanh Hoa in the present and future periods; The work of training, developing talents and the adaptation of monks and nuns in the present period; Measures and solutions to improve the quality of social charity activities and towards sustainable social security of the Buddhist Sangha and monasteries in Thanh Hoa province at all levels; Measures and solutions to improve the effectiveness of Buddhist activities in mountainous districts...

The workshop is a valuable opportunity for the Thanh Hoa Buddhist Sangha Executive Committee to receive comments and contributions, identify shortcomings and limitations. Thereby, promoting achievements and strengths; at the same time, overcoming and improving shortcomings and limitations, aiming at "serving the Dharma, serving society, serving the people".
