(kontumtv.vn) – On the morning of March 13, the delegation of Kon Tum province and the delegation of Attapeu province , Lao PDR held talks on upgrading the Dak Long sub-border gate, belonging to Kon Tum province Vang Tat, belonging to Attapeu province to become a pair of main border gates. On the side of Kon Tum province, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Y Ngoc was the Head of the delegation; the Attapeu province delegation was led by Mr. Thanuxay Banxalit, Deputy Governor of Attapeu province .

At the meeting, the two sides discussed and assessed the current situation and the necessity of upgrading the Dak Long - Vang Tat secondary border gate pair to the main border gate pair in 2025.

Dak Long – Vang Tat border gate is currently a secondary border gate, mainly serving the needs of traveling, visiting relatives, and exchanging goods between the two border provinces. Upgrading Dak Long – Vang Tat secondary border gate to a main border gate is necessary, creating favorable conditions for entry, exit, transit, import and export activities of people, vehicles and goods across the border to encourage the development of investment cooperation, trade, services, tourism... in line with the general economic development trend of the region, creating an economic corridor between the provinces of Southern Laos and the coastal provinces of the Central region, the Central Highlands in general and Kon Tum province with Attapeu province in particular.

In the spirit of solidarity, friendship and mutual trust, the two sides agreed to sign the Minutes of the Working Group to propose that the two Governments agree on the policy of upgrading the Dak Long - Vang Tat sub-border gate pair on the border of Kon Tum and Attapeu provinces to the main border gate. After the two Governments have agreed, the two provinces will coordinate to arrange forces and build infrastructure at the border gate area in accordance with regulations. The expected time to upgrade the border gate is in 2025 and 2026./.
