Delegates attending the ceremony observed a minute of silence for the victims of storms, floods and landslides in the northern provinces.
In the 2023-2024 academic year, the Academy of Journalism and Communication will offer 32 undergraduate programs; 15 master's programs; 7 doctoral programs; training programs in journalism, publishing, propaganda, pedagogy, and 1 joint program with Middlesex University (UK). The current training scale of the Academy is more than 10,400 students (9,290 undergraduate students, 868 graduate students, and 262 postgraduate students). In the recent regular university enrollment period, the Academy recruited 2,322 students, Course 44.
In the 2024-2025 school year, the Academy will carry out its mission with core values: solidarity, democracy, innovation, quality and dedication.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia praised and highly appreciated the achievements of the Academy of Journalism and Communication over the past 60 years.
He stated that in 2024-2025, the entire Party, people and army are striving to successfully implement the goals, tasks and targets of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress; summarize 40 years of implementing the renovation policy; prepare for Party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress. This is also the first year of implementing Conclusion No. 91-KL/TW (Conclusion 91) dated August 12, 2024 of the 13th Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW dated November 4, 2013 of the 11th Central Committee of the Party on fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education and training.
Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested that in the 2024-2025 school year and the coming time, the Academy needs to well implement the viewpoints, guidelines, and policies of the Party and State on education and training; set the goal of becoming a model of Party building work in higher education institutions. Strongly promote the role of Party committees and organizations in leading and directing the implementation of the functions, tasks, missions, visions, core values, and development goals of the Academy.
Continue to improve the quality and effectiveness of training in the fields and sectors that the Academy has strengths in. Research and propose appropriate mechanisms and policies to create attraction for training programs for political theory lecturers and Party building work, focusing on attracting excellent students to study these fields. At the same time, research and open new training fields to meet the development requirements of the country in the new period.
Strongly innovate teaching methods and forms. Implement well the principle of learning combined with practice, theory linked to practice. Promote learning through exploration, discovery, and research. Pay attention to developing scientific critical thinking, self-study capacity, self-enrichment of knowledge, and self-creativity. At the same time, strengthen moral education, lifestyle, and aspiration for dedication for learners. Link training and fostering with studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style, building a system of national values, a system of cultural values, a system of family values, and standards for Vietnamese people.

The Head of the Central Propaganda Department suggested that the Academy should invest in and strongly promote scientific research activities, considering this a key solution to become a key university in the country.
The Academy needs to be a pioneer in research, comprehensively innovate training content and programs, ensure compliance with the Party's guidelines and regulations, the State's policies, adapt to the strong development of digital technology and artificial intelligence, and keep up with the trends of modern media.
Along with focusing on improving the quality of professional training, it is necessary to pay special attention to fostering political theory knowledge and professional ethics for journalists to meet practical requirements. Learners need to be trained and nurtured to be able to work proficiently in digital space; have the skills to use artificial intelligence as a support tool in exploiting content, analyzing data and predicting trends, verifying news and detecting fake news, creating new multimedia experiences; have the courage and critical thinking, be upright and have professional ethics to protect the core values of journalism against the negative impacts of digital technology and artificial intelligence.
