The empress we are talking about is Empress Ke, also known as Ula Nara. Empress Ke was the second empress of Qing Gaozong Qianlong Emperor. She was the only empress of the Qing Dynasty without a posthumous name. In the Qing History, she was only recorded as Empress Ula Nara.

Empress Ula Nara was born into a very prestigious and illustrious family. She was betrothed to Prince Hongli as a secondary concubine.

When Hongli ascended the throne, taking the reign name Qianlong, she was granted the title of Imperial Noble Consort and then promoted to Imperial Noble Consort and Imperial Noble Consort. After Empress Fuca passed away, she became Emperor Qianlong's Empress Consort.

She was crowned empress without giving birth to any prince, and was even greatly loved by the Empress Dowager. When Qianlong had finally gotten over the loss of his wife Fuca, he loved and favored Empress Wula Nala very much, and it could be said that he received no small amount of honor and favor.

In the 17th year of the Qianlong reign (1752), she gave birth to the twelfth prince Yongji, and the following year gave birth to a princess. In 1756, she gave birth to Prince Yongjing, but he died a year later. In the first month of the 30th year of the Qianlong reign (1765), Qianlong organized his fourth southern tour.

Empress Wu La Nara was also on the list of concubines accompanying him. When the tour first began, everything went smoothly. Qianlong even held a grand celebration for the empress's 48th birthday.

However, after this trip, the empress suddenly fell out of favor. After returning to the Forbidden City, she was isolated in the palace, and her number of female servants was reduced. Although she was not dethroned as empress, Qianlong revoked all the privileges she had been granted during the coronation ceremonies of the past.

A year later, Ula Nara passed away, with only two palace maids by her side and no relatives. When Qianlong heard of her death, he only issued an imperial edict, writing: "The ceremony is not convenient to make it as grand as the funeral of Empress Xiaoxian. All ceremonies should be carried out according to the funeral for Imperial Noble Consort Huang."

Accordingly, the funeral of Ula Nara was not held according to the ceremony for the Empress but was demoted one level. According to the regulations, when the Imperial Noble Consort passed away, every day, high-ranking officials, princesses, and ladies-in-waiting had to visit and perform the ceremony. However, the funeral of Ula Nara was completely cut off from this ceremony.

According to historical records, in 1778 (at this time, Empress Dowager Ke had been dead for 12 years), Emperor Qianlong recalled and explained that on that night, Ula Na La Thi "went crazy" and shaved her head, committing a major taboo.

According to Qing Dynasty regulations, one could only cut one's hair when a member of the royal family died. In this case, both the Empress Dowager and the Emperor were healthy, and it was a crime for Empress Ke to do so.
