Miss Do My Linh activates foreign language self-study month

According to Miss Do My Linh (former student of Viet Duc High School, Hanoi), self-studying a foreign language is a great opportunity for each of us to step out of our comfort zone and reach new horizons through language.

Having participated in a community learning center in her area, she witnessed many examples of hard-working, tireless learners, from students to the elderly who still persevere in learning foreign languages ​​every day.

That makes her believe that it is never too late to learn, every small action today is a solid foundation for tomorrow.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong affirmed that self-study does not mean studying alone.

"Launching a foreign language learning movement is very important and correct because this is a tool to accompany the world in the era of development, gradually making English the second language in schools.

"Launching the self-study month is an initiative, not only focusing on foreign languages ​​but also expanding to other subjects, with the spirit of self-study being the main focus. As a leader, Hanoi must be a leading example for other provinces and cities to respond to and replicate the model," said the Deputy Minister.

In a message to students, the Deputy Minister of Education and Training said that in order to successfully self-study, students must confidently step out of the comfort zone of their parents and teachers.

Students must study persistently, the rain soaks in the water. From the mettle of each student, along with the companionship of teachers, friends and family, they will expand their knowledge, step out of their comfort zone to reach new horizons.

"Self-study does not mean studying alone, but you must have a goal orientation, a method orientation, and have testing and evaluation. You must set your own goals in terms of space and time, study anywhere, anytime, study from teachers and friends.

In the process of self-study, what you do not know, you must ask from many sources, learning must go hand in hand with practice, and you must even think in English. Like that, I believe you will be very successful," said the Deputy Minister.

Regarding teachers, the Deputy Minister believes that this is an important team that determines the quality of education. Quoting an American psychologist, the Deputy Minister said: "An average teacher only knows how to talk, a good teacher knows how to explain, an outstanding teacher knows how to illustrate and a great teacher knows how to inspire."

He believes that with the good qualities of teachers, he hopes this will be the source of all inspiration, helping students love people, love culture, love subjects, and inspire self-study to separate themselves from the dependence on teachers.

After more than a month of launching, there are currently more than 615,000 people registered to self-study foreign languages ​​on the online platform, with more than 593,000 students and nearly 22,000 teachers.

Of which, the number of accounts that have completed confirmation is nearly 615,000 (reaching 100% of the number of registrations), the number of accounts that have completed and are completing the English proficiency assessment is more than 515,000 (reaching 83.86% of the number of accounts that have completed confirmation).

Many teachers have set their own score goals, studied and experienced with students, and inspired learning for the whole school such as: Trung Vuong Secondary School, Hoang Mai Secondary School, Chu Van An Secondary School...
