Sharing on a Malaysian television program, the President of the country's football federation - Mr. Hamidin Mohd Amin - said that he had negotiated with coach Park Hang Seo in early 2022. At that time, the Korean coach still had a one-year contract with the Vietnamese team.
Mr. Park is one of the candidates interviewed by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM). FAM President Hamidin is confident that Coach Park Hang Seo is convinced and ready to end his contract ahead of schedule to move on to lead the Malaysian national team.

According to Mr. Hamidin, coach Park Hang Seo is very impressed with the potential of the Malaysian team as they possess many talented players and have naturalized players.
" I can share that Coach Park Hang Seo almost went to Malaysia. He expressed that in the interview and was ready to break the contract. Mr. Park wanted to come and train naturalized players. He said Malaysia is a quality team, with Corbin Ong, Mohamadou Sumareh and everything ," Mr. Hamidin Mohd Amin revealed.
" Mr. Park was willing to break his contract to come at that time. Even though he and the Vietnamese team won against the Malaysian team, he still wanted to come here to work ."
However, after negotiating with candidates, FAM decided to appoint Mr. Kim Pan-gon as the head coach of the national team. Mr. Kim made many impressions and helped the Malaysian team win a place at the 2023 Asian Cup.
Meanwhile, Coach Park Hang Seo continued to lead the Vietnamese team and brought the team to the final of the AFF Cup 2022 against the Thai team before being defeated. He and the Vietnam Football Federation decided not to renew the contract. The contract between the two sides ends on January 31, 2023.
Mr. Park Hang Seo is not currently leading any football team. There are many rumors related to his contact with the football federation of Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore or some football teams in Vietnam. However, no contract has been signed.
