Speaking before the second qualifying round of the 2024 Olympics, coach Mai Duc Chung said: "This is the second time the Vietnamese women's team has returned to Uzbekistan. Four years ago, the team also faced this opponent. Indeed, although a period of time has passed, our feelings about the people and landscape of Uzbekistan have not changed.

In this return, I see that Uzbekistan has clearly improved in terms of level. They recently reached the third place match of the 19th Asian Games women's football. That is enough to show how high the level of the Uzbekistan women's team is."

To qualify for the Olympics, the Vietnamese women's team must win the group stage, or be the best runner-up (out of three runners-up). The realistic goal of coach Mai Duc Chung and his team is to finish second in the group stage with a good goal difference, as their opponent Japan is almost certain to finish first in group C.

"We always try every day. Having to face Japan and Uzbekistan is a difficult challenge for the team. But the Vietnamese women's team will seize every opportunity and always try.

The Vietnamese women's team has about 4-5 young players. The upcoming matches are an opportunity for me to observe their playing style, thereby aiming for future goals," said coach Mai Duc Chung.

Therefore, each of us players entered the field with great determination, for the Vietnamese flag and as a farewell to coach Mai Duc Chung."

The opening match between the Vietnamese women's team and Uzbekistan will take place at 7:00 p.m. on October 26, followed by matches against India (October 29) and Japan (November 1).
