(Dan Tri) - Coach Kim Sang Sik only sees the AFF Cup championship as the first step and wants to aim for the World Cup with the Vietnamese team.

Sharing his feelings after winning the AFF Cup, the Korean strategist said: "Vietnamese fans' view of me has changed after winning the AFF Cup 2024. I am really confused, not knowing what to do with this change. However, we need to forget about the victory to start preparing for the next tournaments. I will try my best to bring joy to the fans once again." Coach Kim Sang Sik has repeatedly mentioned the "bonding brotherhood" in the Vietnamese team. Talking about the past journey, the coach born in 1976 shared: "I expected that if we had good preparation, the Vietnamese team would be able to reach the final. Everything was beyond my expectations. We played so well that we could defeat Thailand in both finals. I am grateful to the players who silently endured during the extremely difficult training and competition process. I hope we will continue to maintain our diligence and reap more titles". Talking about the secret to success in the Vietnamese team, coach Kim Sang Sik shared: "I always pay attention to the smallest things. I always remember coach Park Hang Seo 's advice that we must always love the players. I think I need to have a different approach. Sometimes, I turn myself into a comedian for the players". The Korean coach also revealed that he let Vietnamese players use red ginseng to improve their health. "Most Vietnamese players believe that their Korean colleagues use red ginseng, which is why they can play so well when they are in their 30s. Therefore, when the whole team went to Korea for training, I let them use red ginseng every day. We talked a lot and became closer during the training trip in Korea," said the 48-year-old coach. Coach Kim Sang Sik admitted that he had lifted a big burden after winning the AFF Cup. He revealed: "After 7 months of leading the Vietnamese team (before the AFF Cup), I was always worried because I hadn't done much. Therefore, I didn't pack all my luggage, but only used the necessary items. Now, I can lift some of the psychological burden and sleep more comfortably. I will try harder so that Vietnamese football will shine many more times." Finally, coach Kim Sang Sik affirmed that he wanted to help the Vietnamese team go further. He said: "When I first came to Vietnam, I thought that if I didn't change, I would definitely fail. I always want to try new things. I will do everything I can until the day the Vietnamese team becomes a football powerhouse in Asia. When the World Cup increases to 48 teams, the opportunities for Southeast Asian teams like Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand will also increase. I understand that the task of winning a ticket to the World Cup is not easy but not impossible. I want Vietnamese football to have more miracles."
Coach Kim Sang Sik: "I felt elated when my daughter asked me to take a photo" Coach Kim Sang Sik came to Vietnam alone, leaving his family in Korea. This is a rare opportunity for him to reunite with his family after 8 months apart. He shared: "I couldn't bring my family to Vietnam because I had to focus on coaching. I'm very happy to somehow repay my family with the championship. My daughter is in high school. When she asked me to take a photo, I felt elated and happy. I will try to become a father whose good qualities my daughter recognizes."
