Coach Amorim debuts, Man Utd draws with second-to-last team in the rankings

The match against Ipswich Town at Portman Road Stadium (Suffolk, England) was the first match coach Ruben Amorim led Man Utd. The "Red Devils" did not lose in the debut match of the new coach but the performance of the away team did not show many signs of improvement.

It took Man Utd 75 seconds to score against Ipswich Town - one of the two teams that conceded the most goals in the Premier League after 11 rounds. Amad Diallo assisted Marcus Rashford to finish close to the goal to put the visitors ahead early. However, that was a rare good move that Man Utd created in the first half of the match.

Ipswich Town were the better team in the first half. The home team calmly controlled the ball and coordinated to force their opponents into a defensive position.

Man Utd were pushed and their defence relied on goalkeeper Andre Onana. Ipswich Town did not have much more shots than Man Utd, but the home team's expected goals (which reflects the quality of chances) were double that.

Onana's brilliance was not enough to keep United in the lead until half-time. Omari Hutchinson's long-range shot hit a United defender, creating a trajectory that was too difficult for the goalkeeper to fly. Ipswich Town equalised just before half-time.

After the break, Man Utd controlled the game better but not enough to overwhelm the home team. Ipswich Town still created more dangerous situations, although the number of chances for both teams was the same.

Man Utd's attack was deadlocked. Coach Amorim brought Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund on but it did not make a difference. Man Utd pressed hard in the final minutes of the match but still could not score a second goal. In the end, Ipswich Town and Man Utd shared the points in a 1-1 draw.
