Intel Meteor Lake CPU Performance Increases 10% After BIOS Update

According to Hothardware , the ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED is a laptop that comes with an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H CPU of the Meteor Lake generation, including 6 Redwood P cores with speeds up to 4.8 GHz, 8 Crestmont E cores with speeds up to 3.8 GHz and 2 additional low-power LP-E cores.

After updating to the latest BIOS firmware, the ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED's multi-threaded performance has increased by 10%, at least according to the synthetic Cinebench R23 test. The laptop was originally running firmware version 201, but is now running version 203.

"I reran the Cinebench test on the laptop after a cold boot. In Cinebench R23, the processor's TDP increased to 50W, but by the end of the test, it dropped to around 35W. In the 10-minute stress test, the processor's TDP increased to 50W, but stabilized at 28W after 5 minutes of testing. Please note that performance may vary depending on load and internal temperature. In other words, depending on the environment, the chip may reduce power more aggressively and quickly, so the final performance value may vary."

With BIOS firmware version 201, the Core Ultra 7 155H CPU delivered multi-threaded performance of 12,357 points (best result), 11,342 points (10-minute stress test) and single-threaded performance of 1,751 points in Cinebench R23. After updating the BIOS to version 203, the CPU's multi-threaded performance increased to 13,873 points (best result), 12,132 points (10-minute stress test) and single-threaded performance of 1,761 points.

Overall, the BIOS update did not affect the single-threaded performance of the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H on the ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED, with a mere 0.57% increase due to the bug. However, multi-threaded performance increased significantly, with a 12.27% increase when comparing the best results and about 7% when comparing the results of the 10-minute stress tests.

The new BIOS version optimizes Intel Meteor Lake's power management, allowing the processor to run longer with higher performance.
