The overall design of the Asus Zenbook S 14 (UX5406) ​​is quite minimalistic and sturdy with a frame made of solid metal. However, the weight of the machine is only 1.2kg, which can be easily carried when moving. Asus said that the body of the machine is made of a material called Ceralumium, which is harder than conventional coated or anodized aluminum. When touched, the surface feels a bit rough, similar to soft stone and does not attract fingerprints.

The hinge of the device works quite smoothly. However, this hinge is not very sturdy, still experiencing slight vibration when there is external force. In addition, this screen hinge can only open up to about 130 degrees, instead of 180 degrees like many other models of the company.

The right side of the device has only one USB-A port.

The left side includes an HDMI port, two USB-C ports, and a headphone jack.

The machine's radiator system includes 2,715 holes, designed on both the front and back. This will help increase the cooling air flow into the machine by 50% and reduce noise by 25% during operation. Two rubber pads are raised above the surface, helping to fix the machine and increase heat dissipation efficiency when placing the device on the table. The machine's sound system includes 4 speakers arranged on both sides, with high volume and good detail reproduction. However, the bass is not too thick.

The keyboard on the machine is arranged similarly to many other 14-inch laptops. The keys are moderately spaced. However, due to the thinner frame, the key travel is also reduced, making the typing experience shallower and less comfortable. In return, the touchpad is still made with a large size, providing a smooth swiping and navigation experience.

The device's screen is 14 inches in size, using an OLED panel with a resolution of 2,880 x 1,800 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. This screen has good display quality, deep blacks and wide viewing angles. However, the screen's sustained brightness is only 400 nits, just enough for indoor use and not suitable for outdoor use in the sun. In addition, the outer mirror coating also causes screen glare when exposed to light. Tested with the X-Rite i1 Display Pro measuring device, this screen achieved 100% sRGB color gamut, 93.7% Adobe RGB gamut and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut. This allows users to use the device for tasks such as image color editing.

The Asus Zenbook S 14 (UX5406) ​​version is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 7 258V processor, integrated Intel Arc 140V graphics, 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD. In terms of CPU performance, this is not a very powerful chip compared to the newly launched AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series chip. However, the machine can still handle all office tasks well, including heavier tasks related to editing 2D images or videos.

Meanwhile, the integrated Intel Arc 140V graphics card delivers relatively good performance when considered in the reference of a thin and light office laptop. Testing the game "Black Myth: Wukong" with low graphics settings, the device can handle an average of over 40fps. This is an AAA game with detailed graphics and very high hardware configuration requirements. Of course, when running heavy tasks, the device will be significantly hotter and the cooling fan will also run noisily.

In addition, the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V chip also integrates an NPU with a performance of 48 TOPS, 4 times higher than the previous generation Core Ultra 7 155H chip, to enhance AI processing capabilities. This is also the first Intel laptop model in the Vietnamese market to meet Microsoft's Copilot + PC standard. Accordingly, devices that meet the Copilot + PC standard will be equipped with a series of AI features such as the Recall feature that helps users search for information they have viewed on the computer, Cocreator that allows creating AI images or Live Captions that support language translation.

The device is equipped with a vapor chamber cooling system. Areas that users often come into contact with, such as the palm rest near the keyboard, are also insulated with graphite layers. During normal use, the device's cooling system operates quite effectively and almost does not create noise. The 72Whrs battery equipped with the device provides a usage time of about 12-14 hours with mixed tasks such as web browsing, watching videos and doing office work.

Asus Zenbook S 14 (UX5406) ​​is sold in the Vietnamese market at a price of 44.99 million VND. The device competes directly with some products in the same segment such as Lenovo Thinkpad X13 and MacBook Pro 14 inch M3.
