While the stars were celebrating their achievements at the Oscars, hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters marched and clogged the streets around the Dolby Theatre. One sign read: "While you are watching, bombs are falling."
“The Oscars are going on while people (in Gaza) are being killed and bombed,” said Zinab Nassrou, a 38-year-old business owner. At the awards ceremony, several celebrities, including actor Mahershala Ali and singer Billie Eilish, wore red pins calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.

The Oscars took place on Sunday night (6am March 11, Vietnam time) at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles (USA). The blockbuster film about the race to build the atomic bomb, Oppenheimer, won the prestigious trophy for the best picture category.
A three-hour historical drama about science and politics, Oppenheimer grossed $953.8 million and received critical acclaim. It was director Christopher Nolan's first film to win Best Picture. He was also named Best Director.
