Báo Dân tríBáo Dân trí13/04/2024

On the morning of April 13, speaking with Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Le Quang Vinh, Director of Phu Khanh Railway Exploitation Branch, said that the landslide problem has not yet been resolved to open the train at Bai Gio railway tunnel in Dai Lanh commune, Van Ninh district, Khanh Hoa province.

According to Mr. Vinh, while workers and machines were trying to dig through the dirt and rocks to clear the tunnel soon, about 50 cubic meters of dirt and rocks continued to slide down, blocking the tunnel.

"It is currently impossible to determine when the ship can be cleared. Workers and machines are still working hard to dig through the rocks and soil, racing against time to fix the problem," said Mr. Vinh.

The biggest difficulty now is that the tunnel is narrow and lacks light. Workers must arrange suitable construction locations and ensure safety against the risk of continued tunnel landslides.

Phu Khanh Railway Exploitation Branch mobilized 2 construction units from 2 ends of the tunnel to the middle. Due to the small tunnel and large construction volume, the troubleshooting work was not as fast as expected.

Mr. Tran Viet Tung, Nha Trang Railway Transport Branch, said that on the evening of April 12 alone, Nha Trang Railway Transport Branch supported the transfer of about 1,800 passengers.

"Currently, trains going from the south must stop at Gia Station, Van Ninh District; trains going from the north must stop at Tuy Hoa Station. Nha Trang Railway Transport Branch continues to mobilize shuttle cars to transfer between these two stations," Mr. Tung informed.

It is expected that about 700 passengers will be transferred on the morning of April 13. In addition, the railway industry will also distribute free meals to hundreds of passengers and assign staff to help passengers carry their luggage onto the transfer vehicle.

According to the Road Management Office III.3 (under the Ministry of Transport), the landslide in the tunnel is located under the lane of National Highway 1.

Mr. Ta Thanh Tinh, Head of the Office of Highway Management III.3, said that immediately after receiving the information, the unit sent officers to the scene to coordinate with the traffic police of the two provinces to regulate and limit vehicles passing through the landslide area to avoid putting pressure on the area of the railway tunnel that had an incident.

Previously, at around 12:45 on April 12, the ceiling of the Bai Gio railway tunnel suddenly collapsed with more than 150 cubic meters of earth and rock, blocking the tunnel entrance.
