Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed Decision No. 609/QD-TTg on the establishment of the Steering Committee for key projects and important national projects in the railway sector.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is Head of the Steering Committee for important national railway projects.

These include high-speed railway projects on the North-South axis; the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong, Hanoi - Lang Son, Mong Cai - Ha Long (Quang Ninh) railway lines and urban railway projects in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is the Head of the Steering Committee. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha is the Standing Deputy Head of the Committee.

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc and Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh are Deputy Heads of the Steering Committee. Steering Committee members include leaders of ministries, Chairmen of the People's Committees of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and representatives of Vietnam Railways Corporation.

Based on the needs and tasks during operation, the Head of the Steering Committee decides to change or add members of the Steering Committee.

According to the decision, agencies with members participating in the Steering Committee use their existing apparatus to perform tasks to assist the Steering Committee, operating on a part-time basis.

The Minister of Construction is authorized to establish working groups to assist the Steering Committee, consisting of department and bureau leaders of relevant ministries and branches.

The Steering Committee has the duties and powers to assist the Prime Minister: Research and propose to the Prime Minister directions and solutions to resolve important, inter-sectoral issues to speed up the implementation of important national railway projects.

Direct, inspect, coordinate and urge relevant ministries, branches and localities to carry out construction investment tasks in accordance with the Resolutions of the National Assembly and the Government for the Projects.

The Ministry of Construction is the standing body of the Steering Committee, developing the Steering Committee's operating regulations and submitting them to the Head of the Steering Committee for signature and promulgation; assisting the Head of the Steering Committee in developing the Steering Committee's work plan and program...
