Hoan Kiem District has just submitted a document to the Hanoi People's Committee on assigning the task of preparing a report proposing an investment policy for the Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square expansion project.

According to the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District, the total area of ​​research and planning to renovate Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square is about 1.2 hectares.

Within the planning scope of the square, there is the "Shark Jaw" building built in the early 1990s, managed by Hanoi Transport Corporation, with a land area of ​​about 390m2 and a usable floor area of ​​about 1,600m2.

According to the detailed planning approved by the City People's Committee in 2021, the Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square land is located in the traffic area, and is expected to be arranged as an underground parking lot; while the land of the "Shark Jaw" building has the function of public land.

Based on the research plan for the design and planning of the renovation of Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square and the direction of Hanoi City leaders, Hoan Kiem District plans to demolish the "Shark Jaw" building before April 30.

The district estimates the total investment for the project to expand Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square and demolish the "Shark Jaw" building to be around VND18 billion. If assigned by the city, the district will take on the role of project investor.

Hoan Kiem District also stated that the project preparation time is from March to April 2025; implementation will be in 2025.
