One of the areas that has made an impression is the work of preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage associated with sustainable tourism development. Implemented in the direction of in-depth research, in recent years, the Provincial Museum has actively advised the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ha Nam to carry out archaeological work to serve the work of preserving and promoting the value of local cultural heritage. Notably, in 2024, the Provincial Museum coordinated with the Institute of Archaeology to organize 2 archaeological excavations; coordinated with archaeological experts to organize archaeological exploration at the vestiges of Thanh Chan Pagoda in Lat Son Base, Thanh Son, Kim Bang; organized a conference to report preliminary excavation results at the vestiges of Ba My E Temple in Phu Phuc Commune, Ly Nhan District; coordinated with experts from the Institute of Archaeology, University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) to drill stratigraphically at Con Hen 1, Tam Chuc Lake, to collect samples for testing on cultural stratigraphic structure to serve scientific research. These activities have helped support relics in developing spiritual tourism, research tourism, and experience tourism...
In addition, the Provincial Museum also strengthens the collection and restoration of artifacts for research, display, and traditional education, including the restoration of two national treasures: the Giau Pagoda stone stele, Dinh Xa commune, Phu Ly city, and Tien Noi 1 bronze drum at the Museum; coordinates the implementation of inventory, research, and documentation of royal decrees at relics in Binh Luc district and Duy Tien town; guides the arrangement of worship spaces, and researches the content of Han Nom documents at some relics in the province.
In the field of physical education and sports, the sports training movement for everyone has developed widely, attracting a large number of people to participate, especially new sports. Every year, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organizes, coordinates and supports the organization of over 30 provincial-level sports competitions and activities. These include typical sports competitions such as: Spring Martial Arts Wrestling Competition, Yoga Festival, Martial Arts Festival, Ha Nam Province Open Sports Dance Competition; Launching Ceremony of Sports Activities Month for Everyone and Olympic Running Day for Public Health; Launching Ceremony and Swimming Rescue Competition; Launching Ceremony of the Campaign "All people practice physical exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" and the Cross-country Race "Running with Sacombank for Community Health"; Canoeing and Rowing racing, National Women's Futsal Championship, National U19 Championship, National Jujitsu Championship... In 2024 alone, the rate of sports families in the whole province is estimated to reach 27.4%, the rate of people regularly practicing sports is estimated to reach 32.8%.
Sports achievements continue to achieve many high results when in 2024, Ha Nam participated in 40/33 domestic and international tournaments, winning 235 medals (including: 67 Gold Medals, 71 Silver Medals, 97 Bronze Medals), the year with the highest number of medals of all kinds ever achieved. Notably, 2024 is also the second year that Phong Phu Ha Nam Women's Football Team won the Gold Medal of the National U19 Women's Football Championship. At present, participating in the National U19 Women's Football Championship in 2025, Phong Phu Ha Nam Women's Football Team has also achieved some positive results, the team is making great efforts with the goal of continuing to win the Championship Cup for the third time.
In the tourism sector, with many activities to promote investment in tourism development; promote tourism information and images, survey tourist areas and spots in the province; sign cooperation agreements on tourism development with provinces and cities, and the participation of all other career fields of the department and localities... Ha Nam tourism has gradually made a breakthrough, the number of visitors and tourism revenue each year is always higher than the previous year.
Last year, by well organizing promotional activities and promoting Ha Nam tourism to domestic and international friends, typically: coordinating with VTV1 to produce a film promoting Ha Nam cuisine; coordinating with Trang Tien Audio Film Distribution Center to produce the video "Ha Nam - tourist destination in 2024" to promote on large LED screens at Hoan Kiem Lake Walking Street (Hanoi), Nguyen Hue Walking Street (Ho Chi Minh City), international airports, major commercial centers nationwide, the number of international visitors to Ha Nam also increased.
According to 2024 data, the total number of tourists is estimated at 4.731 million (of which, international visitors are estimated at 147.3 thousand); total revenue from tourism is estimated at 3,657 billion VND. Also in 2024, Ha Nam province was consecutively awarded two prestigious tourism awards by the United Nations Tourism Organization as "Asia's Leading Emerging Tourist Destination" and "Special Achievement Award in Tourism". This is a very important milestone in promoting the development of Ha Nam province's tourism career in the coming time.
2025 is the year of many major events and celebrations of the province and the country. The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has set out many tasks for the industry's career activities. In the cultural field, organize a scientific workshop "Promoting the value of cultural heritage in the hometown of writer Nam Cao associated with sustainable tourism development" on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the birth of writer and martyr Nam Cao (October 29, 1915 - October 29, 2025); pay attention to the work of preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage, prepare a dossier to propose the Prime Minister to recognize national treasures with the Long Hoa stone incense table of the Tran Dynasty (Dong Tu pagoda, Liem Can commune, Thanh Liem district) and the Kham Ban Dong Bai - Cau Khong Tu Ky book (Cau Khong communal house, Bac Ly commune, Ly Nhan district). Regarding sports, by 2025, strive to have the rate of families practicing sports reach an estimated 24.5%, the rate of population participating in regular sports practice reach an estimated 32.3%; host sports tournaments: World Triathon Cup Championship (Asia Region); National Triathon Championship; Canoeing Championship Cup of National Strong Teams; National U19 Women's Football Championship... strive in 2025 to participate in 45 domestic and international sports tournaments, winning 225 medals of all kinds. In the field of tourism, organize a workshop on rural tourism development models associated with experiencing traditional craft villages in Ha Nam, strive to welcome 5.1 million visitors in 2025, with total tourism and service revenue estimated at 4,300 billion VND.
