The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just issued a plan to organize the fourth Book and Reading Culture Day in 2025.
According to the plan, the activities of the fourth Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2025 will be held nationwide from April 15 to May 2, 2025. The opening ceremony of the fourth Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day nationwide in 2025 is expected to be held on April 17 in Ho Chi Minh City.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism presides over and coordinates with the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; the Vietnam Publishing Association and localities to organize the opening ceremony of the fourth Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2025. Central ministries, branches, associations and mass organizations develop plans to implement activities in accordance with the functions and tasks of agencies, units and practical requirements.
Specifically, the Ministry of Education and Training organizes activities in the system of schools, academies, and training facilities. The Ministries of Public Security and National Defense organize activities in the security and defense forces.
The Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union organizes activities within the system of Youth Union organizations and the Vietnam Youth Federation. The Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union; and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor organize activities within the system of Union/Trade Union organizations at all levels.
Localities deploy organization plans associated with political tasks and major holidays in 2025 in the locality; assign the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism/Department of Culture and Sports to preside over and coordinate with departments, branches and sectors to organize welcoming activities, focus on key activities at the public library system, increase the operation of mobile library cars, propaganda vehicles to serve reading and promote reading culture in remote areas, areas with difficult conditions.
The publishing house's governing body directs the publishing house to organize response activities, and at the same time assigns the publishing house to be the host unit to organize the fourth Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2025 within the system of agencies, organizations, and units under the management of the governing body. Organize book weeks, book fairs, and hang welcoming banners at the publishing house's headquarters and bookstores, distribution centers, printing facilities, and libraries.
Vietnam News Agency, Vietnam Television, Voice of Vietnam and press and media agencies organize propaganda about activities of the fourth Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2025; develop columns on books; introduce typical models, organizations and individuals in developing a reading culture.
Vietnam Publishing Association, Vietnam Library Association, Vietnam Printing Association coordinate to organize activities chaired by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; deploy response activities in member organizations of the Association.
Training institutions develop plans to implement activities in accordance with the functions and tasks of the agency, unit and actual requirements. Typically, Hanoi University of Culture, Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture, Academy of Journalism and Communication coordinate to organize activities for the 4th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2025, organize book competitions associated with training, scientific research, and cultural activities of the agency, unit.
Academies, Universities, Colleges and Secondary Schools organize activities related to training, scientific research and cultural activities of agencies and units.
Publishers, printing establishments, distribution establishments, and libraries proactively participate in welcoming activities; organize book weeks, book fairs, and book release months to show gratitude to customers; hang welcome banners at headquarters, store systems, bookstores, and libraries; organize online distribution channels, combine with technology platforms, social networks, and e-commerce platforms to introduce and promote books; implement book donation programs to disadvantaged subjects and areas; promotional programs to support readers and develop a reading culture.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recommends that agencies and units pay attention to and organize events, Book and Reading Culture Festivals with activities to promote books, tell stories and imitate books, draw pictures according to books, arrange books artistically, exchange and discuss books and reading culture, honor readers, creators, librarians, preserve, collect, promote books and contribute to the development of reading culture; organize spaces to introduce books of publishers, distributors, book signing, donate, support and give books, exchange old books for new books, organize reading promotion activities, guide reading methods and skills, develop skills in searching, exploiting and using information.
In addition, agencies and units organize seminars, discussions, and knowledge exchanges on reading trends, share information on how to use technology and new electronic reading platforms to encourage reading, such as: digital reading trends, audio books, interactive books and new technologies such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality...; organize online book clubs, create online reading groups to discuss works through online platforms such as Zoom, Skype, Google Meet.
Effectively carry out communication and book promotion work, honor typical collectives and individuals in publishing activities, develop reading culture on media, newspapers, technology platforms, social networks to widely spread the value of books and reading culture in the community; connect domestic and foreign readers; contribute to building a spiritual and cultural life, promote ethical values and the tradition of studiousness of the nation.
Some messages of the 4th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2025 include: "Reading culture - Connecting the community", "Entering the era of national growth with books", "Reading books - enriching knowledge, nurturing aspirations, promoting innovation and creativity".
