In the Central and Central Highlands regions, the price of live pigs on April 12, 2025, Nghe An recorded an increase of 1,000 VND, reaching 68,000 VND/kg. According to statistics from the Bac Kan Statistics Office, the livestock and poultry industry in the province continued to develop steadily in the first three months of 2025. The important factor is that there were no major epidemics affecting livestock, combined with timely support policies from the locality, creating conditions for people to confidently invest in livestock production.
The total number of main livestock in the first quarter was estimated at 298,816, down 93.11% compared to the same period last year. Specifically, the buffalo herd reached 28,466, equivalent to 83.19% compared to the same period; the cow herd recorded 14,922, reaching 89.76%; the pig herd had 163,329, equal to 90.15%; while the poultry herd reached about 2.16 million, up slightly by 0.7% compared to the same period last year.
According to the Bac Kan Statistical Office, in the first quarter of 2025, livestock diseases were effectively controlled, the price of fresh meat of all kinds such as buffalo, cow, and pig remained stable and tended to increase, leading to positive growth in the output of fresh meat compared to the same period.
Total main livestock output is estimated at 7,210 tons, up 6.11% over the same period. Of which, pork output is about 4,485 tons, up 6.33%; buffalo meat is 1,072 tons, up 5.3%; poultry meat is 1,150 tons, up 5.89%; and poultry egg output is 8.96 million, up 5.06% over the first quarter of 2024.
