Mr. Phung Van Thanh - Commercial Counselor, Vietnam Trade Office in the Philippines - said that on this occasion, the trade office coordinated with ministries, branches and domestic enterprises to connect and invite a Philippine business delegation led by Dr. Constante J. Palabrica, DVM - Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Philippines - in charge of livestock and poultry to attend the event as well as explore the Vietnamese market to seek trade opportunities in this field.

Not only Vietnam but also the Philippines is a country seriously affected by African swine fever. From a total pig herd of over 13 million in 2020 and before, due to the impact of African swine fever, by 2021, the Philippines' pig herd was only nearly 9 million. Increasing the herd in the post-epidemic period encountered many difficulties.

Therefore, the need for African swine fever vaccine in the Philippines is more urgent than ever. The fact that Vietnamese enterprises, including Dabaco Group, have successfully researched, tested and produced African swine fever vaccine is not only a success for Vietnam but also creates great hope, attracting the attention of not only the Government, management agencies but also businesses and farm owners in the Philippines.

Vietnam has ready export goods

The African swine fever vaccine Dacovac-ASF2, developed from the attenuated virus strain ASFV-G-ΔI177L/ΔLVR and the PIPEC cell line transferred by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), is the result of a long process of careful, scientific research and testing under the strict supervision of specialized veterinary management agencies, confirming its safety, effectiveness and efficiency.

The vaccine was licensed for commercial circulation on February 28, 2025, becoming a "biological shield" for Vietnam's pig farming industry after heavy losses from ASF since 2019.

DACOVET factory, with a total investment of more than 300 billion VND and a capacity of 200 million doses/year, is the 12th vaccine factory in Vietnam.

The factory is equipped with modern production lines imported from the US, Germany, and Japan; a fully automatic vial loading and unloading system for freeze-drying machines - the most advanced and unique technology in Vietnam; an automatic packaging system and strict quality control, ensuring that 100% of products are visually inspected and leak-detected before being released to the market... The DACOVET Factory production line has been granted a GMP-WHO certificate for good manufacturing practices.

The leader of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment also emphasized that the successful production of African swine fever vaccine will contribute to ensuring food supply, thereby controlling CPI.

Mr. Christophe Mermaz, CEO of C-cube, highly appreciated the successful production of African swine fever vaccine by Vietnamese enterprises.

Regarding the potential for exporting African swine fever vaccines from Vietnam, Mr. Christophe Mermaz, CEO of C-cube - one of the technology enterprises in the field of vaccine production based in Vietnam, said that the successful production and commercial operation of vaccines by Vietnamese enterprises has created motivation and encouraged many other Vietnamese enterprises to participate in this production field. From there, it helps to improve the production capacity of Vietnamese enterprises, catch up with the standards in the European and American markets to promote exports.

“We specialize in building modular vaccine manufacturing facilities. That is, we build these factories in Vietnam, then export and install them around the world.

We do this for biotechnology, vaccines and even data centers. It shows that Vietnam can absolutely create modern facilities that compete on a global scale. Anything is possible - just dare to dream big and work hard" - CEO Christophe Mermaz shared.

Dabaco is one of the leading units in Vietnam that pioneered the research and successful production of commercial vaccines against African swine fever (ASF). At the same time, the Group's vaccine production plant was also invested in and completed and granted GMP-WHO certification. The research, testing and successful production of commercial vaccines against African swine fever (ASF) is not only the pride of Dabaco Group but also the pride of Vietnam.

African swine fever vaccine products produced by Dabaco, in addition to supplying the market to serve domestic livestock units, also wish to export to other countries, to meet the needs of disease prevention and control, and enhance Vietnam's reputation with international friends.
