On July 22, the Hanoi People's Court opened the first-instance trial of defendant Trinh Van Quyet (Chairman of FLC Group) on charges of "Fraudulent appropriation of property" and "Stock market manipulation".
Also on trial for the above two crimes are: Trinh Thi Minh Hue (officer of the Accounting Department of FLC Group); Trinh Thi Thuy Nga (Deputy General Director of BOS Securities Company); Huong Tran Kieu Dung (Permanent Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of FLC Group); Trinh Van Dai (Deputy General Director of FLC Faros Construction Joint Stock Company); Nguyen Van Manh (Head of the Landscape Materials Group, Purchasing Department of FLC Land LLC); Trinh Tuan (former Director of FLC Land Company); Nguyen Thi Hong Dung (freelance worker).
On the side of the State agencies, there are Mr. Tran Dac Sinh (former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange - HOSE); Le Hai Tra (former member of the Board of Directors, Permanent Deputy General Director, independent member of the HOSE Listing Council); Tram Tuan Vu (former Deputy General Director, Vice Chairman of the HOSE Listing Council); Le Thi Tuyet Hang (Director of the Listing Management and Appraisal Department, member of the HOSE Listing Council) for the crime of "Abusing position and power while performing official duties".
The defendants Le Cong Dien (former head of the Public Company Supervision Department under the State Securities Commission); Duong Van Thanh (former general director of the Vietnam Securities Depository Center); Pham Trung Minh (former head of the Securities Registration Department under the Vietnam Securities Depository Center) were prosecuted for the crime of "Disclosing false information or concealing information in securities activities".
The remaining group of 35 people appeared in court for one of two crimes: "Stock market manipulation" and "Fraudulent appropriation of property".
The indictment determined that Mr. Quyet played a key role in the case, directing his subordinates to commit crimes. In particular, the damage from the act of Fraudulent appropriation of property was determined to be 3,621 billion VND; the act of Stock Market Manipulation was 684 billion VND. Total 4,305 billion VND.
The trial is expected to last for several days, under the direction of Judge Vu Quang Huy, Deputy Chief Justice of the Criminal Court; representatives of the Hanoi People's Procuracy participating in the trial include Mr. Pham Van Dung, Ms. Trinh Thi Lan Anh, Mr. Nguyen Dang Lam, Mr. Pham Cong Luu, Ms. Doan Tran Thi Tran and Ms. Bui Thi Van Anh.
The decision to bring the case to trial shows that the court will summon 30,403 investors who bought ROS shares in the first sale. In addition, more than 63,000 investors who are holding this stock will also be summoned as people with related rights and obligations.
Nearly 100 lawyers registered to defend the defendants, including 4 of Mr. Trinh Van Quyet.
