MU converted the audience seats behind the coaching staff and players into a VIP ticket area. |
The decision is one of several changes announced by the Old Trafford club on March 17. They also increased season ticket prices by 5% for the third consecutive time, while keeping ticket prices unchanged for under-16s.
"We understand that any price increase is not welcome, especially at a time when the team is not in good form," admitted CEO Omar Berrada.
According to insiders, the creation of a premium section in the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand - just behind the coaching and players' areas - has helped the club avoid widespread increases in ticket prices. While the decision may upset many, the Red Devils' leadership believes that these seats are currently undervalued.
Chelsea made headlines in January when they sold £12,500 tickets for their final two home games of the 2025/26 season against Liverpool and Manchester United. MU had not planned to charge such a high price, but there was still a change.
"A number of stands near the home and away training areas will be converted into VIP seats, reflecting the special value of the location. We understand the inconvenience to those fans currently sitting there and will contact them directly to find a suitable alternative location," MU's homepage announced.
In the past 3 years, MU has lost 300 million pounds, despite Sir Jim Ratcliffe's Ineos group pumping more money into the club. The new owner "Red Devils" has tried every way to cut costs and increase revenue, even if it means making decisions that are not popular with fans.
