Billionaire Elon Musk left Shanghai on June 1, concluding a trip to China in which he met with top officials and visited Tesla's Shanghai megafactory.
Tesla CEO also met with Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang on the afternoon of May 31 in Beijing, Reuters reported.
Although details were not disclosed, according to Reuters, this meeting took place after meetings with China's trade and industry ministers and foreign ministers.
Mr. Ding is the sixth-most senior leader in the Politburo Standing Committee, the top governing body headed by President Xi Jinping. He served as Xi’s chief of staff before being promoted in 2022. He is an aide to Premier Li Qiang in managing the world’s second-largest economy.

It was Mr. Ding’s first face-to-face meeting with a foreign CEO, and his discussion with Mr. Musk showed how seriously China takes its relationship with Tesla. The country is Tesla’s second-largest market and home to the electric carmaker’s largest manufacturing hub.
It is unclear whether Musk will meet with Premier Li Qiang during his trip. Musk left Shanghai on the morning of May 31, concluding a two-day trip to China that also included meetings with a battery supplier and a tour of Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory.
Mr Musk's first visit to China in three years comes as the country looks to create a friendly environment for foreign businesses after a long period of tight control over the Covid-19 pandemic, while geopolitical tensions with the US are escalating .
