The project to upgrade Ta Quang Buu Street, District 8, nearly 2 km long, is expected to complete the remaining section by April 30, 23 years after the first start.

On the afternoon of April 10, more than a dozen workers along with various types of road rollers, cranes... were mobilized to construct the road surface and sidewalk along Ta Quang Buu Street, near Pham Hung intersection, Ward 4.

The electricity, drainage, and telecommunications systems are also being relocated and re-established by the units to synchronize with the road expansion project. Currently, some sections have completed paving the sidewalks and installing lighting to help make the road more airy.

The District 8 Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor) said that the above area is part of the Ta Quang Buu Street upgrade project. The project was restarted in April last year with a total investment of more than VND330 billion, of which compensation costs are about VND262 billion. The section under construction is 687 m long, of which nearly 500 m is expanded to 21 m for 4 car lanes. The remaining part is being renovated and supplemented with synchronous technical infrastructure.

The project is currently over 85% complete. The construction unit is implementing some remaining items such as sidewalks, lighting, etc., and is expected to be completed by April 30 this year. "This section was previously only about 7-8 meters wide, so it was often congested, and the road surface was muddy when it rained, so when the project is completed, it will be convenient for people to travel and do business," said the investor's representative.

Ta Quang Buu is one of the main traffic axes in District 8, connecting many major roads in the south of Ho Chi Minh City such as: Pham Hung, National Highway 50, Duong Ba Trac, Nguyen Van Linh Avenue.

The project to expand the above route was previously called Chanh Hung - Rach Song Sang connecting road, nearly 2 km long, connecting from Pham Hung to Au Duong Lan streets, and started in 2001. The project was later completed for nearly 1.2 km, the section from Au Duong Lan to Vo Liem Son streets. The remaining part connecting to Pham Hung street was stuck in land acquisition and waiting for project adjustment, construction stopped in 2005 and only resumed last year.
