Fisherman Mai Anh Tuan suffered a traumatic brain injury and was admitted to the Truong Sa Island Infirmary for emergency treatment on August 5. Today (August 6), he was taken to the mainland by helicopter for further treatment.
On the afternoon of August 6, the Naval Region 4 Command said that fisherman Mai Anh Tuan, 30 years old, residing in Hoai Hao ward, Hoai Nhon town, Binh Dinh, suffered a traumatic brain injury and was taken by helicopter from Truong Sa to Military Hospital 175 (HCMC) for further treatment.
According to the Naval Region 4 Command, fisherman Mai Anh Tuan was admitted to the Truong Sa Island Infirmary for emergency treatment at 2:30 p.m. on August 5 and was consulted online by Military Hospital 175 at 4 p.m. the same day, diagnosed with open brain injury, brain injury with loss of skin tissue, muscle fascia, dura mater and brain tissue in the right posterior temporal region, and a fracture of the right frontal bone due to a work accident.

According to doctors, it is necessary to closely monitor the patient's condition, maintain strong antibiotics, rehydrate, and provide on-site care for open brain wounds. However, after a period of treatment and on-site care, the patient is at risk of serious infection, so Military Hospital 175 suggested transferring the patient to shore by helicopter.
At 11:45 on August 6, EC-225 aircraft with registration number 8619 of the 18th Army Corps carrying 4 medical staff from Military Hospital 175 landed on Truong Sa Island to carry out the mission of transporting patient Mai Anh Tuan to the hospital for further examination and treatment. At 12:55, the aircraft left the island.

Previously, at around 6am on August 4, while fishing in the waters near Tien Nu Island (Truong Sa archipelago), Mai Anh Tuan was injured in the head.
The patient was taken to Truong Sa Island's infirmary by ship BD-95653TS for emergency treatment at 2:30 p.m. on August 5 and was diagnosed with traumatic brain injury.
