The cruise ship docked at Cam Ranh International Port at 7am, carrying a group of guests from European countries. Local authorities held a welcoming ceremony and took souvenir photos with the first cruise ship carrying international guests to Khanh Hoa since Nha Trang Port closed for repairs in September.
The group experienced a tour of Nha Trang City by cyclo, visiting tourist villages, Cai River and some other places. Then the ship will leave in the afternoon of the same day to Hong Kong.
The Coral Princess, a Bermuda-based British overseas territory, was launched in 2002 and cost $360 million. The ship is nearly 300 meters long, 62 meters high, and can accommodate more than 2,000 guests and crew.
In early October, several maritime service businesses in Nha Trang said they had canceled dozens of international cruises with tens of thousands of "luxury" passengers. Nha Trang port is closed for repairs, reopening date unknown.
Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism then proposed Tan Cang Company Limited and Navy Region 4 to create conditions for businesses to welcome guests through Cam Ranh International Port.
Cam Ranh International Port is 2,147 m long, including 2 wharves that can accommodate passenger ships up to 226,000 GT (over 600,000 m3). The port is 5 nautical miles from the international shipping route; the anchorage area in front of the port with an area of 303 hectares is located in the wind-sheltered Binh Ba lagoon, ensuring year-round maritime activities.
In 2016-2017, Cam Ranh International Port welcomed many large ships such as Legend of The Seas, SuperStar Vigor, Mariner of The Seas, Genting Dream, World Dream. The ships docked at the wharf so there was no need to transfer passengers by tender.
